Friday Fragments

Welcome to Friday Fragments! First-timers (and those who aren't good at following directions), please click on the above FF button to get the skinny on how you can free yourself of those miscellaneous thoughts/observations/burning questions from your week without feeling hungry, empty, or guilty in the process. Do share!

First, a first; my Favorite Friday Fragment from last week was from a man, none other than Andrew Scott Turner: (Warning: Skip this bit if you feel strongly that blogs should only be Rated G.)

- I woke up with some sort of rash on the palms of my hands. But no hair, so masturbating is still a safe bet. If I were to ever resort to masturbating, I mean. Does it bother you that I keep saying masturbate? They say that 98 percent of all men do it, and like, 10 percent of all women blush when you talk openly about it. But, you can make statistics say anything. And besides, who can trust a survey conducted by Vaseline? Am I rubbing you the wrong way? Is this subject matter hard to take? Oh, get a grip.

Great job, Andrew, and thanks for making me laugh or cry or think or wonder every time you post. Here is your prestigious award:***Mr.4444 made a comment a few summers ago about how technology has changed relationships among adolescents. It used to be that you'd meet a girl while camping, you'd have a blast, then promise to keep in touch and just not follow through (and get away with it.) Now, because of Facebook, MySpace, etc. the relationship is likely to drag on forever (past it's expiration date), because there's no excuse for losing touch! As usual, Mr.4444 is right. (Hear that, Honey?)

***My 17-year-old son, Kyle, has joined Twitter. Not-in-and-of-itself remarkable for a typical teenager, but what you don't know is the funny part: One year ago, I tried to tell him about this "really cool" thing called Twitter, and he replied (rolling his eyes), "Mom, no offense, but that's just something you and your blogging friends think is cool. Nobody in real life is going to go on that." HAHA KYLE! I have got the last laugh on that one! (Guess he's a "nobody" now, haha.)

***Tiki (the torch company) is holding a dance contest to help promote its new Island King Tiki Torch and to celebrate the start of summer. To enter, all you need to do is submit a 45-second video showing them your best dance moves to their YouTube group . Kendall and I have our video planned (these things take time, you know!) and we hope to win great prizes such as Canon camcorders, Charbroil grills, and even Visa gift cards worth $1000! We're going for it! (Yaya, with your dance move video already in place, you should go for it for sure!) The first 25 entries get a "Bonus Prize," and there are only two entries so far, so what are you waiting for?!

***Molly is in the hospital again. Her lung collapsed for the fourth time, and doctors are unsure why the TWO radical, incredibly-painful procedures have not worked. The first time it happened could have been a fluke but was likely influenced by her intense grieving for Ryan. Since then, it just keeps happening, in spite of her doing better in the grief department. How much more can a woman take?! Please continue your prayers and/or positive thoughts directed towards Molly's healing. Thank you.

That's it for me this week. I look forward to reading your Friday Fragments. You know what to do...
