Friday Fragments, Episode #81

Hey there! Happy Friday! Come on in--pull up a chair. Put your feet up and rest a while. It's time to unload.  Friday Fragments is the best way to debrief your week, unravel those balls of random thoughts,
and make sense (or nonsense) of your life.
Let the fragging begin!
[Click the FF button to learn how to join in the fun.]

***

I'm attending an autism conference today. I'm looking forward to it, and I hope I learn something.

***

If you haven't read The Post That Shall Be Named, I would love to share it with you.
It's a piece of my heart and the type of post I don't often write.
I promise you won't regret it.

***

Dapoppins wrote this gem this week, referring to the need
to look presentable in her swimsuit:
"It is winter time, for goodness sake.
I have hair body parts that I could braid and decorate with beads
And that is just the chin hair!"
LMAO, Dapoppins! Thanks.

***

How cool is this?! I'm a featured blogger on Life2Us for the month of February!
What an honor. Thank you, Unknown Mami.

***

I do so love the look of a Wordpress blog; so clean
(well, the format I would choose, anyway.)
The trouble is, I really don't like the horror stories I hear about the transition.
Maybe this summer...

***

The other day, I found a credit card on the floor of a public bathroom,
and I turned it in, of course.
Three days later, as I loaded groceries into my car, a man stopped and said,
"Ma'm, you dropped your credit card."
Sure enough; my credit card was on the ground, a few feet away.
Who says there's no such thing as karma?

Artist Kseniya Simonova, of her Ukraine's Got Talent prize winning performance, says:

"I find it difficult enough to create art using paper
and pencils or paintbrushes, but using sand and fingers is beyond
me. The art, especially when the war is used as the subject matter,
even brings some audience members to tears. And there's surely no
bigger compliment."

If you haven't seen her incredible talent in action, watch it here.

My Favorite Friday Fragment from last week is this one,
from Confessions of a Working Mom
who did a public service for me and everyone else...

-Despite my own tip of the day more than two weeks ago to make your dinner reservations for Valentine's Day, I haven't made my OWN dinner reservations yet.
At this rate, we'll be having a romantic dinner at Hardee's.

Thank you, Elizabeth. You have reminded me to hound Mr.4444 about Valentines Day.
Please take this button as a token of appreciation :)

***

The Mom Jen's Facebook status update cracked me up today...
....dying my hair...apparently my hair thinks i'm turning 87.

***

Speaking of hair, Kyle bleached his tonight for Swimming Sectionals this weekend.
Thankfully, he has short hair. I'll get to a pic this weekend...

***

Now it's your turn; share your Friday Fragments link here and visit some old and new friends.
(Fragmenters are the coolest people, you know.)

I'm new but love the idea of unraveling all the random and making sense of my life! Love your story of the lost credit cards -- awesome!

I believe in karma too...great about your card!

Hope you're doing well, girlfriend...missing catching up with you..

For awhile I didn't really hear anyone complain about the transition from Blogger to Wordpress, but lately I've been hearing some horror stories.

Karma is a wonderful thing sometimes!

The video link doesn't work, but if it's the sand art thing I'm thinking of, it's amazing!

Happy Friday, hope you have a great weekend!

Barb, that is quite a story about your dad. The ending gave me that swallowing feeling. I'm so sorry how it ended, but what a memory. Your writing skills have always impressed me. I'm sure your "story" will be a hit some day.

I agree with you that there are quite a few sob stories out there about the conversion to WordPress. I can barely navigate Blogger, let alone making a switch.

I wouldn't have expected anything less from you than to turn in the credit card. What goes around, comes around.

It's nice how you spotlight other people in your FF posts.

I wasn't thinking about braiding and beading chin hair... LOL!

Happy Friday!
The story about your Father brings tears to my eyes.

LOL on the hair!

So funny you talk about the wordpress look - I also liked it and then decided to see how far I could take blogger to look similarly clean. GO have a look and see what you think.

LOL at the swimsuit comment.

So glad someone was kind enough to let you know you'd dropped your credit card after you'd returned one earlier. A lot of people wouldn't have done that, unfortunately.

That should be an interesting conference--I've only known one mildly autistic child personally.

Good thing you got that credit card back and Kudos to you for turning in the one you found--hopefully the person you turned it in to is as honest!

I definitely believe in karma, too - and you just proved why! ;)

I subconsciously rubbed my chin just now...luckily didn't find any hairs on my chinny chin chin, or I might have to go get some beads... ;)

The transition from Blogger to Wordpress can be a nightmare if you're like me and have no clue what you're doing... *sigh* :)

Hope you get heaps out of attending the autism conference. My nephew is autistic so I try to do what I can to educate myself.

I've been reading author Elizabeth Bear's blog about her autistic son (http://www.speedofdark-thebook.com/blog/)- he's just started community college and traveling on public transport by himself - I got quite emotional reading about it.

Interesting with the credit card. I don't believe so much in Karma, but I do believe God works in mysterious ways!

Happy Friday! I linked up too!

good one! glad that worked out both ways too!

I switched to wordpress and the only bad part was the pictures, when they transferred over they were all small :( had to manually fix them all. Besides that I love it! but now blogger added pages, after I left? pfft!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Body hair is funny. Well, mine isn't. Mine is just scary! I have my winter coat on right now so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get into an accident that requires my pants to be cut off and my legs to be exposed.

Nancy C said...

I hope you learn a lot at today's conference. It's always a good feeling to come home with new ideas and inspiration.

The hair thing is hilarious! Mine is best kept under a heavy winter coat...

I have been hearing of the horrors of transitioning as well. I don't want to deal with that hassle!

Karma is totally amazing. I believe in it 110%!

I hope you enjoyed your conference today!

That's weird about the credit card. Yesterday I had a weird thing happen.

I have been meaning to call a friend of mine. We haven't talked in weeks, which is not all that unusual. We both have tons of stuff going on.

BUT her brother had a heart attack a couple of months ago and he moved in w/her and they are selling his house, etc...

It has been on my heart to call her for a few days, but I kept getting distracted.

Yesterday I dropped my daughter off at a friend's. I had to run to the store. While pulling into the store, I vowed to call the friend when I got home.

When I got in my car after shopping, I grabbed my phone to see if I had missed any calls. I hadn't, but...

I had forgotten to lock the keys, and something hit a button, and of all things, my friend's name was displayed, ready to dial. So I called here right then!

You know I love your blog -wouldn't be a faithful follower of yours if I didn't. But when you mention going to an Autism conference, that really tweaks my interest even more. You gonna be able to share anything you learned from the conference? My two little grandkids -both autistic -thankfully, are doing really great with the therapy and special schooling they received/are receiving but I always like to hear about anything new with respect to autism! (Check my post from tonight for a funny episode with Kurtis, the little guy! It's one of my usual long-winded things but just thought you'd get a kick out of it with his literal translation of "medicine to make his head feel better."

I'll take a little good karma anytime! :o)

Hope the conference went well.

Heading over to check out the artist now...
