Apple Lovers, Come on Down!!

Grandma 4444 (Fours) had an epiphany today. When you learn what it was, you'll understand why I said to her in reply, "You do know that has to go on the blog, right?!" Here's the story...

Grandma 4444: "I was just lying in bed this morning when "Pop!" A lightbulb turned on for me, and I finally 'get it.'"

Me: "Really, Grandma? Get what?"

Grandma 4444: "Well, I've been watching my shows [Wheel of Fortune, Price is Right, etc.] for years, of course, and you know how the they have prizes, right? Well, I always hear them saying that people have won "a $500 gift certificate to The Apple Store," and everyone seems real excited about it, but all I can think is, "Who in their right mind would be excited about a gift certificate to an apple store?! I mean, how in the world could anyone ever begin to spend $500 on apples?!"

Ba-dump-bump!

We laughed until we cried (Grandma 4444, too.) In her defense, Green Bay does have a shop called "The Apple Store," at which they sell apples (not computers.)

  2. Glad she's a good sport about it. Tell Grandma 4444 that we have an Apple Store here. My dh and kids love to hang out there, but strangely they are always still hungry when they leave.

  6. We have a seasonal apple store right near my house... and depending on my frame of mind, it's usually what I think of first when someone says "Apple Store." She's not alone!!

  9. That's hysterical. And I bet she's not the only person of maturity to have thought something like that!

  10. I think that was a very clever name for a Apple Orchard store. Wonder if people stop in there looking for anything else - maybe they can combine 2 businesses!

  21. Well, my parents are either her age or not far behind, and they don't get some things too. You can see the puzzled look on their faces when they hear something that anyone younger than them understands.

  22. That's hilarious--sounds like something my grandma would say! I've got a whole host of things I could post about things she says, but she reads my blog and might not have such a sense of humor about me sharing it with everyone else: )
