Lighting the Fire Within and Making a Difference II are two posts that I wrote regarding a 6th grade student whose made me earn my paychecks this year. If you're familiar with them, this surprise journal entry of his will blow you away almost as much as it did me. If don't remember him, you'll still be pretty impressed. I'd asked the students to journal about what they've learned about themselves this year.
This one is for teachers (and parents) everywhere...
I think I'm going to get this one framed.
That is incredible! That made my whole day! ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, frame it. What an incredible gift.
ReplyDeleteaww wow...that was a heart warmer!
ReplyDeleteAdorable and awesome. You deserve those thanks too because what you do really helps kids and that's amazing. This warms my heart.
ReplyDeleteCertainly makes your job worth it when the payoff is so great. Frame it for sure!
ReplyDelete*Tears* You must be so proud!

Not only is Robert awesome, so are you!
ReplyDeleteYou changed his life...
ReplyDeleteI remember that kid. That's just awesome.
ReplyDeleteHow great is that?
ReplyDeleteI keep hoping that one day one of my Girl Scouts will approach me and say Thanks- they've certainly tested my patience over the years :-)
A letter like that is what makes it all worth it. Good job! Definitely frame that one.
ReplyDeleteTHAT makes it worth it, doesn't it? How rewarding for you (and, obviously, the kid). That's a keeper, and kudos to you for inspiring that kid to challenge himself!
ReplyDeleteThat is what it is all about. This is a wonderful letter of thanks. I am so happy for that student to feel that way and be able to express it.
ReplyDeleteGives me goosebumps! It is exactly these kinds of moments, few and far between as they are, that keep me going as the mom of a special needs child. The fact that this is the kind of thing that keeps you going for a special needs kid(s) who aren't even yours says a lot of good things about you.
ReplyDeleteYou're right - this may be the best letter ever, and it could have been written by many others as well. It's when the most challenging students come around, though, that you remember what made you want to go into teaching... cause there are usually plenty of reasons to make you wonder!!!
ReplyDeleteI loved teaching special ed.
Lucy

ReplyDeleteFrame it!!! I tell my husband all the time... All of my complaints about long hours and planning, and being a volunteer... Blah blah blah... And when a child says thank you and touches your heart. You know EVERYTHING is perfect! Great job Mrs 4444!!! You deserve an A+!!!!
ReplyDeletewhat an awesome letter. I am so glad to see a kid who is being touched in thier life to do the best they can! I am proud of this kiddo and I don't even know them!
ReplyDeleteDamn, that is so cool!!!! That's what teaching is all about summed up into one paragraph! Definitely frame it so you can read it on those questionable teaching days!
