In the Caution Zone

Look who I got to meet IRL on Monday!

No, Chuck E. and I go way back--I had the distinct pleasure of meeting blogger, Caution Flag, of The Human Race! (Because, really, what whirlwind summer camping/vacation tour would be complete without a stop in Wisconsin?)  Caution suggested we meet in Green Bay, since she and her family would be in the neighborhood.

Now, please know that I was very persistent in suggesting that the Caution family instead come to our house, where Mr.4444 would have been thrilled (I'm not kidding) to prepare a wonderful, home-cooked meal for them, but Caution would not take me up on it. She just kept politely saying no (but not elaborating), and I had no choice but to respect her decision.  Truth be told, though, I think it was because she was a little afraid that we might be freaks of some kind, and how would anyone find them if they were kidnapped and murdered by the 4444 family? So, yeah, I get it--she didn't know me and just was too scared to say yes.  Having met me now, though, I'm pretty sure she's sorry she didn't say yes (just sayin').

Anyway, we met at Chuck E. Cheese's at my suggestion--A boy can only take so much "blah, blah, blah" adult talk before he loses his mind and starts poking his brother with forks and stuff, especially near the end of a 2-week vacation, so I figured this would be a better option. They had a ball; I think we might have actually seen them for a total of ten minutes of the two hours we were there, chatting it up. That said, they were sweet boys; very polite and happy, if sweaty and token-grubbing (just kidding--they were perfectly clean and normal).

I just want everyone to know that Caution is every bit as funny, sweet, and charming as you probably think she is. I feel blessed to have met her in real life. What you might not realize is that Checkered is every bit the same; they make a wonderful couple, and I wish we lived closer.

We stayed at the restaurant for more than two hours.  I like to think that's because I'm so charming, but there's a slight chance that they just weren't anxious to get back to their pop-up; the heat index today was 95% (which explains why I have my hair up in the photo). Who knows? Maybe some day, we'll take a road trip to Lower Michigan, and Caution will let us come to her house for pizza! (I promise we'll leave Chuck E. at home.)

  1. Fantastic! I think it's cool when you get to meet other bloggers in person. I've had the luxury of meeting three, two that were planned and one by coincidence.

I've been her follower for quite some time.

  5. Its a cosmic rule that when two or more powerful bloggers get together there is a ripple in the Force. Use your combined power for good.

  8. That is an EXCELLENT IDEA! The next time my girlfriend wants to "do lunch" for 3 hours...I'm requesting we go see Chuck E. Cheese instead of Olive Garden. Brilliant!

  19. One of my jobs in high school was at Chuck E. Cheese's ... and I had to dress up in the suit more than once ;)

Surprisingly, reading your post made me nostalgic for the days when I smelled of pizza and rat costume rather than disgusted ... I think I must be getting old :)
