We took Cooper to a local pet store for grooming, once, years ago.
We were disappointed in the results, especially considering what we paid.
I decided that I could just do it myself.
I bought some tools,
did a little Googling on the subject,
and pretty much did no better than a mom who puts a bowl on her kid's head for a template.

Since then, we haven't groomed him much at all,
and he's been looking pretty scraggly.
When a neighbor found a lady who would come and pick our dogs up,
groom them, and return them for $50 each, we went for it.
Before....
(He looks a little embarrassed, don't you think?
And after,
proud...
.....adorable.
The next time he eats a loaf of bread off the counter,
refuses to leave a dead deer carcass in the woods alone,
or gets into the garbage,
I'm going to try to remember this face...
Aw, he looks adorable. What is it with dogs & bread? Sofia eats any unattended bread. Drives me CRAZY!
ReplyDeleteAwe. He is adorable.
ReplyDeleteMy dad uses a service like that for his pooch. He (and, she) love it.
You should come link up this post today on www.therhok.com. It's perfect for our new meme we just started today. =)
Have a great Tuesday!
Cooper looks so nice! That's hilarious that he ate a whole loaf of bread! I am glad that our dog does not jump up to the table or counters. She stays on the floor where dogs belong. But getting into the garbage is not the dog's fault--it's too big a temptation to resist! You have to remove that temptation for him.
ReplyDeleteOmg...the last picture...I'm in love!!
ReplyDeleteOne of my past jobs many years ago was a poodle groomer. Since then it didn't matter what the dog breed I groomed my own dogs. I didn't like cutting nails though. I did it but would be a nervous wreck trying not to cut too short. The person who did the grooming on your dog did a great job. Dogs just like to eat whatever food is left out, don't they.
ReplyDeleteCUTIE!!
ReplyDeleteHe looks totally relieved. haha
Cooper, the Camera Hound. Cooper is beautiful both before and after.
ReplyDeleteFrom your description, it seems to me the 'scruffy' look would suit him better.
ReplyDeleteAwww I can see the difference in his attitude, he seems proud to have a new hair doo!
ReplyDeletekim
Nice pictures - I still remember that clip of him getting on your treadmill.
ReplyDeleteThe first pic needs a caption like "oh not another blog picture - please".
he is really a good looking dog!
ReplyDeleteI have a Pug, Chloe, she is over 10 yrs old, poor thing, has bad teeth! and smells!
So precious!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for a pretty doggie face, too. Regardless of his shenanigans, he is still good for some good snuggling and lovin'.
ReplyDeleteCooper is so handsome. Already for spring time.
ReplyDeleteAwwwww!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe use a service like that with our poodle. She's old and tiny and it was downright traumatizing for her to go to the grooming places at the pet store or vet- too many smells and sounds and big dogs and each groomer had a different approach with her. We found a mobile grooming service. Rhonda pulls up in front of the house in her grooming equipped truck, snuggles Sassy in her arms, and gives her a good bath and trim before returning her to our snuggling arms. It's perfect and also fits our hectic schedule so much better!!
He is making his cousin Homer look bad!!! What a cutie!
ReplyDeleteAwwww, Cooper is just adorable all spiffed up but that look says he would sure like to find a carcass again! Heeehehe!
ReplyDeleteGod bless and enjoy the moment! :o)
Aw. So cute!!!
ReplyDeleteawwww! ♥
ReplyDeleteHe is so PRECIOUS! Makes me miss my Bailey boy. He looked just like Cooper! Ahhh, gotta love dogs, right?!
ReplyDeleteThat last photo just made me go AWWWWWWW! I said it out loud. I think my dog is jealous. I take my dog to a local groomer and he fights like the dickens when he realizes where he's going. I guess he doesn't like getting bathed and clipped. He runs out of there like his tail is on fire. He does look cute in the bandanna that the groomer ties around his neck. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, he DOES look proud! I have a golden, too. He always struts himself after haircuts, too. :) Cooper is so cute!
ReplyDeleteHandsome boy! I have a pic of my sweet Shiner planned in my FF this week.
