Remember when I gave away some of my favorite guacamole mix, from Lawry's? (The guacamole mix that makes me very popular at summer parties?) Little did I know at the time that Lawry's was going to stop making it?! WHAT? This is crazy! I can't find it anywhere! I even wrote the company, and they broke the news. I can't believe they didn't at least let me stock up first! I could cry! They wouldn't even give me the danged recipe for the stuff. I don't know what to do.

My friend, Dawn, makes her own laundry detergent. She gave me some, and I can attest that it works! However, I'm too lazy to make my own laundry detergent. If you are more ambitious than I am (and want to save a lot of money on laundry soap), click on the recipe here.

A friendly bit of info: What you are reading is post on a blog. A blog is the platform on which we publish our posts. So, it's appropriate to say, "I'm writing a blog post" or "I'm writing a post," or even "I'm blogging right now," but not, "I'm writing a blog" (if you're referring to one post, in particular).

I'll bet you didn't know that my mom's sister Pat is a world-renowned Norwegian rosemaler. (No, Lisleman, she does not mutilate roses. On the contrary; she is a folk artist!) At age 85, she just opened her first Etsy shop to sell her work. If you're interested, check out her profile and see what she has to offer!

I've been a prolific blogger this week. that always happens at the end of the school year; my schedule opens up for self-expression, and I create like crazy. Scroll down a bit to view a fun vlog with Kendall, as well as an insane dance video! (Yaya would be proud!)

I have not been a prolific blogger or visitor this week or last. I hope next week opens up a bit so I can catch up. I'm missing my friends!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear about Kendall's trip. She's going to have so much fun.
I don't think I've heard anyone say they were writing a blog. I bet I will now that you mention it!
mutilate roses not - Ok but what about you mutilating "Lisleman"? Who is Liselman?
ReplyDeleteI checked out the Esty page. Those Lake Superior Rocks are very nice. I don't need a paper weight but if I did those would work and look nice. Do people still use paper weights much?
Thanks for hosting again and I hope to join the FF fun shortly.
I have not been good at "writing a blog" lately, either. LOL! Had to throw that in there!
ReplyDeleteI want to make detergent, I'm always looking for little ways to be greener, but I'm married to Mr. Clean, and I don't think he could live without his Tide!
ReplyDelete(It's not like I could sneak it past him...)
I love your vlogs! Hope Kendall has a wonderful time on her trip! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteMy blogging recently has been posting FF. :) I'm trying to fix that.
ReplyDeleteYou are much braver than I am with the Vlogging. I hate the way my voice sounds so I won't do it...coward.
I am relieved that your Aunt Pat doesn't mutilate roses. A rosemaler, indeed!
ReplyDeleteI've been off work for three weeks and blogged less than ever. What's with that?
ReplyDeleteRosemaler? I can't wait to see her store :)
Completely unrelated question: how do you embed those little comment clips on your videos?
Well I love to blog..but blogger hasn't been so kind. I couldn't get on for almost a week. I could access my account but not post or comment. grr..
ReplyDeleteglad it's fixed now..I've missed my favourite blogs.
Ewwww...lucky Kendell! That is too cool!
ReplyDeleteI had a similar issue with Weber Sweet & Savory Dry Rub for Salmon. We LOVE the stuff. Can't find it anywhere now. I could sit down and cry with you!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful summer!
Oh no! Sad about the guac! Hope you can make a close replication of it!
ReplyDeleteI've had friends make their own detergent too. I'm not ambitious enough to try. Haha!
Gonna check out your vlog. hehee
Happy Friday!
Okay, I'll admit that I get irked when people say they wrote a blog.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the guac mix! That's a bummer. I used to make my own laundry soap, but haven't had time lately.
ReplyDeleteI used Camtasia Studio for the word bubbles in my vlogs :) I think they have a free version, but I have the expensive one (which I bartered for! :)
ReplyDeleteMegan, I would, if I were a creative cook, but sadly, I am a follow-the-recipe kind of girl :(
Anyone who is anyone knows that you don't "write a blog!" Really!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the Lawry's! You can probably still find some online. We are big fans of Lawry's season salt. It's on the dinner table every night.
I'm going to look for your guacamole mix...sometimes our stores are the last to know these things. If I find any, I'll bring it with me in July! :)
ReplyDeleteI love Lawry's! I make my own guac (not that it's anything great), but I will look at my three stores (I have to shop so much that I don't like the stores to know how forgetful I am)and see what I can find!
ReplyDeleteLucky Kendall! Can't wait to see pics!
I do as much laundry as I do grocery shopping...it might be good to check out the recipe for detergent!
Have a great weekend!
#1, you look great in that mini-dress and boots! The word "hot" comes to mind!
ReplyDelete#2, Yay, Kendall, for Hawaii! I hope she has a fabulous time!
#3, I've started making my own laundry detergent, and I love it! It makes a TON, is CHEAP, and works great!!!
#4, I hope you find a suitable substitute for your beloved guacamole mix!
The best (non-mix) guacamole ever (chunky, not pureed):
ReplyDelete--2 avocados, diced
--approx. the same amount of fresh tomatoes, diced (2 small or 1 large)
--juice of 1 lime
--6 oz. feta cheese
--lemon-pepper to taste
delicious & has, so far, always been a hit!
I,too, will keep an eye out for the Lawry's packets, but if you try the recipe above, you may never go back!
Sorry about the guac, that stinks!! I like Wholly G., but I am new to guac, so I'm not sure how it compares.
ReplyDeleteSOOO jealous of Kendall. I suppose everyone else has wondered/asked if she could fit them in her luggage, too? I didn't read the rest of the comments...
I would post a FF blog (hehe, jk) but I'm afraid mine's been a relatively boring and, at times, negative week, and no one wants to read that.
So you're gonna blog lots more over the summer?
ReplyDeleteI see your point about writing a blog, but who the heck would say that?
I clicked over to that laundry detergent recipe. Where in the world would one store 12 gallons of laundry detergent? Even if I could do that, I wonder how it works for people with sensitive skin?
ReplyDeleteKendall is going to Hawaii? Can she pack me in her suitcase?
You sent me a packet of the guacamole mix and hubby and I loved it and have since gotten more. We don't get it here in our little town but this Sat we are going to the next town for appointments and I will check there for you. I owe you!
ReplyDeleteMcCormick makes a guacamole mix, have you tried it? I haven't yet.
I found this.

I have missed FF's and I know I have enough random stuff to do a post again, so I will shoot for this Friday! I will start now.
