My Least-Greatest Parenting Moment (Vlog)
Kendall and I had time on our hands last weekend, so we goofed around with the video camera for a while and came up with this story, a mother's confession, if you will. Please note that while I laugh in the video, it has taken me more than ten years to do so; it wasn't funny at all when it happened and was a source of shame for me for a while. Thank heaven that time really does heal all :)

First of all, you're a star!
ReplyDeleteSecond, cutest part of the video was when you informed us that you don't capitalize prepositions.
That T should be a t. It would bug me too!
ReplyDeleteAs for your worst mistake as a parent? It was an accident. It's not as though you said or did something mean. Glad you've forgiven yourself.
Such a cute mother-daughter video--you two rock! So glad Kendall forgave you for this and you have such a good relationship now! Kudos to you both! Love the video--you should do more of these!
ReplyDeleteYou both are naturals! I loved the vlog! I have tried to block those types of occasions from my brain (which is not too difficult for me!). Nice job! Can't wait to see the next one!
ReplyDeleteOmg I love it....laughed so hard...poor Kendall! I love the end she is the best thing that ever happen to you!
ReplyDeleteAwesome video this morning!!
That incident didn't ruin your relationship with Kendall though.
ReplyDeleteYou look so sweet together and your love for each other outshines the story.
The two of you are so adorable. I'm glad you can laugh about it now.
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to see what you come up with next.
That was so sweet and funny! Your tears of laughter and both of your comments had my eyes welling! Great video!
ReplyDeleteAlso, make sure when you get to where you're going, you look around in the back seat to make sure you dropped your child off at daycare. (I didn't do this, CH did! Luckily he turned around and saw MS in the back, just smiling and looking around. Guess he thought he was going to work with daddy!) But, that's serious, especially in the summer when some children have been killed due to the heat.
ReplyDeleteThe good news is that Kendall isn't scarred for life or anything.
ReplyDeleteI'm reminded of the scene from Mdoern Family a few weeks ago where each parent thought the other had the boy in the car...
nice video - thanks for explaining your T-shirt because I thought you ran out of money to finish the phrase.
ReplyDeleteThat does remind of the story of my older sister being left behind and my older brother not saying anything. I think we just enjoy the extra room.
1. I couldn't sleep early this morning so I pulled up Google Reader on my phone and realized you had updated your blog thank God I didn't watch the vlog in bed My husband wouldn't have been happy since I was just in hysterics laughing.
ReplyDelete2. I have been "forgotten" 2x no three times once in a store and twice a babysitter forgot to come get me at school. It happens my parents refuse to believe I was actually forgotten at the store I send them the bills from the therapist it all works out.
3.Thanks for clearing up the rules on what to capitalize I never get it right.
OMG, I'm cracking up! I would so do this!
ReplyDeleteYou two are SO adorable!!! Love this video!! Thanks for sharing, totally cracked up at the mental image of a four year old chasing a car! Can't wait for tomorrow's video!!
ReplyDelete*oops* Fortunately, Mister Man would FREAK if I ever did that. Like when he was 2 and I was still newborn sleep deprived and sometimes put him in the car then Little Miss and started driving and he'd ask me to stop and buckle him. Yeah. Oops. :)
ReplyDeleteVlog is your element. Next up a reel full of bloopers? Following that will be a submission to America's Funniest Videos.
ReplyDeleteMy friend Michelle is fonding of telling this story (short version): she was about 7; her parents backed out of their driveway, somehow her door came open and she fell out. They did not notice until they were driving away. Here's the kicker: they were furious with her.
ReplyDelete(Scary parent moment eh? You're not alone.)
That was a great vlog! The relationship you share with your daughter is one that allows you to get past the guilt (cause I know I'd have suffered a WHOLE lot!). I know I've done worse, I'm pretty certain. I just hope that my kids are as forgiving & thoughtful as your daughter. ;)
ReplyDeleteI know a couple that accidentally left their newborn baby home when they left for the launder mat...they realized it a few miles down the road.
ReplyDeleteThere was a news story about someone that had (unknowingly)left their kid at a rest stop
I love that you ended with a "teaching moment" - always listen for the click. LOL Funny stuff and totally blog worthy!
