Canine Buddies: Milo and Winston

If I know anything about puppies, it's this: A tired puppy is a good puppy. That's why I try to get Milo out for a walk once or twice a day. I also know that socialization with other dogs is very important for a well-balanced pup, so Milo has developed some great neighborhood friendships. One of those friendships is with 6-year-old Winston.

The first time Milo and I stopped at Winston's house, I worried a little about him possibly being a little too rough with Milo. After all, Winston is a 90-pound yellow lab (incidentally from the same breeder we'll be getting Steve from in a couple of weeks), and Milo weighs just over four pounds. From the moment the two dogs connected, though, I knew I had nothing to worry about.

"He's always just loved puppies," his owner told me.

I shot this video yesterday, about five minutes after Milo and Winston had already greeted each other enthusiastically. (Note: In spite of the apparent speed of Milo's wagging tail, this is not a fast-forwarded video.)

(And, for the record, at the beginning of the video, my neighbor is talking about a guy who's been trying to sell me something; he's not talking about anyone you know.  You don't actually need any sound on to appreciate the video, though.)

I've watched the video at least five times and get a rush of joy every time, so I'm going to share it with someone I know whose heart needs a lift today. It's such an easy way to make a little difference in someone's day, no?

"To love and be loved is the greatest joy on earth," and clearly Milo's tail-wagging proves it!
