Sundays in My City: Sunday Drive

Unknown Mami

Sundays in My City is a weekly photo meme that introduces readers to cities and cultures
all over the globe.  Visit Unknown Mami to learn more.

In a tiny town in Wisconsin, there's a tiny restaurant called Memories on Main.
Mr.4444 took me there for breakfast Sunday morning.

The restaurant has a lot of character. A sweet little old lady greeted us as we entered.  The homemade food (which was good) was cooked on a regular stove in a tiny kitchen. The bathroom (unisex) has all kinds of framed front pages from historical events from the past 100 years or so.
(Sorry--no bathroom pictures; I try to avoid taking my phone into bathrooms.)

In the dining area, there's an authentic juke box!

I'm not sure if it works or not (Sunday mornings aren't really the time for rocking out.),
but I did note that it was filled with some very popular hits from back in the day.

Paper Roses, by Anita Bryant caught my eye, as did Travelin' Man, by Ricky Williams.

[On a side note, writing this post made me think of how beautifully Dave, of 42North,
and Nezzy, of Cowpatty Surprise write about history and music.
Those two know how to tell stories about the past!]

If you go to Memories on Main on Thursday, you'll find a wall full of daily specials,
including this one:

(Clearly, children are not their best customers.haha)

On the way home, we stopped at a yard sale,
and I saw one of the strangest things I've ever come across at a yard sale,
a wicker and bamboo motorcycle.
[Price tag $425, incidentally.]

There was also this $75 "cello," though I didn't know they made cellos that huge;
it looks like my niece's "base."
Is there such thing as a base cello??

The last thing I noticed on this gorgeous day was this:

Yes, there's plenty of culture in Wisconsin....

(Try not to hold it against us, okay? :)

  2. Mrs4444 - thank you for the kind words. I love the photo of the fishing rods, bike and silo. Can't get much more Wisconsiny than that unless you add beer, cheese and football into the loop.
