Meme Monday

Okay, I've never been one to wait for someone else to get the party started, so I decided to make my own categories and get the show on the road myself, just for fun. This is a “meme,” and don’t ask me what that means, because I don’t understand the name, but I do know they are fun. Consider yourself "tagged." Copy and paste the categories into your blog, change the answers (duh!), and then add your link down below to welcome stalkers and other nosey folks. (Don't forget; you can still leave a comment, too.)

10 Things Many People Don’t Know About Me:

1) Injury: I split my lip open at the age of five, jumping (and missing) a trapeze in a friend’s basement. I’ll never forget that feeling, face-planting on a cold, concrete basement floor. Following 10 stitches (5 on the inside, 5 on the outside), I remember getting a lot of TLC at home (as well as Egg Nog and ice cream shakes!), which almost made it worth it.

2) Childhood Nickname: This will come as quite a shock to some of you, but when I was a little girl, my dad dubbed me, “Barbara Jean the Talking Machine.” It was a name that stuck, and I love it. I actually thought of this on Friday, when my dear little student, Kelly, prattled on at my desk, seemingly oblivious to whether or not I was listening. No wonder I have a soft spot for this little chatterbox.

3) A Secret: I have a postcard ready to send to Post Secret (No, I will not share it here; cuz it's a SECRET, Silly! However, I will tell you that it was nothing racy, illegal, or scandalous; only fun.)

4) Health: I have about $7000.00 worth of dental work in my mouth. (I thank God that the kids inherited my husband’s nearly cavity-free dental health.) That’s the closest I ever hope to get to being a Bionic Woman.
5) Talent: Wow! Where do I start?! I can whistle with my mouth closed, turn my eyelids inside out, and fit my fist in my mouth. Now try to beat that!

6) Accomplishment: I have climbed to the top of Mount St. Helens (with my friend, Molly) and slid down the mountain wearing a garbage bag as a sled! I would highly recommend this adventure to anyone willing to undertake a very grueling but rewarding trek.

7) Crime: Believe it or not, I have a Disorderly Conduct ticket on my record! While driving to the urologist’s office with a sample of my husband’s sperm (vasectomy “check-up”), I was given a citation for going 39 mph in a 25 mph zone. The cop was not interested in my story (Can you believe he didn’t even want to see the evidence?!) Thankfully, the poker-faced judge had more of a sense of humor. He said, “Under the circumstances, I will reduce the charge to Disorderly Conduct with a Motor Vehicle.” So, I paid a fine but lost no points.

8) Favorite Way to De-Stress: I love to sing. In a perfect world, during my lunch at school, I’d meet with a group of other song birds and sing in a mini-chorus, just for fun.

9) Long-Term Goal: I’d like to go to Hawaii one day, just to lie on the beaches and hike to see places many others never reach.

10) Miscellaneous: Generally speaking, I hate swimming, getting wet, and general water play. Can’t blame the brothers for this one (as far as I know), but I did almost drown when I was about eight. Fortunately, Mr. 4444 is a former life guard and all-around water-fun guy; if the kids want to play, they know who to call.

  1. these are very interesting facts...
the "Crime" is funny. Well, kinda funny.

  2. Wow..I don't know what meme means either..but I gave it a shot!

  3. Disorderly conduct, hehehe.
Who has a trapeze in their basement?

Thanks for stopping by my blog. :)

  4. Don't you just love post secret?? If you go into the book store you can sometimes find secrets people have stuck inside them. I've never sent one in. I should! It would be SO cool if it made it on the blog. Now each time I see a funny secret I am going to wonder if it's YOU.

  5. You know, Terry, I wondered that myself later in life. It was the home of a "rich" doctor family. We were little, so it worked. I remember it being really funny (until the falling part, haha)

  6. We share something in common Mrs.4444. I to almost drowned, but I was five. I don't do water play either. My hubby is a fish in water and the children know who to call if they want to go swimming!

  7. A giant laugh for the frantic driving with a sperm sample!!

Your 2 cents...
