Notes from the Road, Part 2

Hey there! I missed a day! Sorry about that, but I guess that's what happens when you have a life, haha. (I had forgotten what that was like!)

We spent the day yesterday at Universal Studios, which was (predictably) fun! I especially enjoyed The Mummy ride, which was terrifying; I couldn't stop screaming. At one tiny moment, I had a flash that I would not survive the ride, it was such a sensory overload. I could barely breathe from screaming over and over; and because the ride is all in the dark, it was pretty disorienting at times. The guy behind me added a lot to my experience, as he screamed like a little girl the entire ride.

Kendall is having a wonderful time. Last night, she body surfed at Venice Beach for about an hour with Carly, Kandee's daughter. I took TONS of pics but am having alot of trouble getting them to load from Kendall's camera. Luckily, Kyle also lent me his, so I have a few from the other day. Here's Kendall after dipping her feet in the Pacific Ocean for the first time (Oceanside Beach).

I also took some video of surfers that night; very impressive!

We are also gaining cultural awareness on this trip. At the risk of sounding racist (I mean only to sound ignorant!) I was pleased to learn that African Americans like to surf as much as the blond-haired, blue-eyed beach bums! (I took a photo for proof, but it did not turn out.) It was actually like the United Nations out there that night, which was fun to see.

We've shopped a little, but not a ton. Kendall has been buying trinkets for her friends, and I bought a beach hat last night, which I look forward to wearing today, when we return to Oceanside Beach. We'll leave tonight for the north (to avoid Monday morning L.A. traffic) and stay in Ventura before heading to Hearst Castle. I'm so excited! as I have heard much praise about this beautiful place.

It has been wonderful reconnecting with Kandee after 13 years. She has been a fantastic hostess. I'm so glad that we found each other again after moving away from each other and losing touch for a while (Thank God for the Internet and email!) It's been great catching up, and Kendall and Carly are having a ball together. I look forward to making many more memories together :)

Hope this finds you all well, happy, and having some fun today as well! Have a great week!
