I have a new student this year, "Tyler," who (like many kids) is wearing some new shoes. These new shoes are "good boy" shoes, and Tyler looks great in them, but they're not what he's used to. They are nice and clean, and Tyler can run fast in them, jump high, and kick a ball like nobody's business. However, like many new shoes, these are uncomfortable to Tyler. He is tempted to put on his shoes from last year; his "bad boy" shoes. (Tyler was well known for his bad-boy outfit, but this year, he's decided to try a new style.)
One day last week, Tyler took his new shoes off for about 15 minutes, at the end of the day, and I got a glimpse of the "old" Tyler; it was a little scary. (Fortunately, it was only a glimpse, and he's worn the new shoes each day since.)
