I don't know about you, but I have not been doing very well on my Lent commitment. It felt good, though, this weekend, to take some time to focus on the "reason for the season" and look for symbols that represent rebirth, sacrifice, and/or repentance. We were outside, tapping maple trees (well, really, Kendall and I were just goofing around taking pictures while the men did the tapping) when I saw these baby Hemlock "buds" and knew they were a perfect symbol of rebirth. Even though there is still at least a foot of snow on the ground, just ten feet above are these tiny promises of spring, born after months of winter sleep. Just as Christ emerged from the tomb on third day, rising from the dead, these buds give us hope and answer a promise.
If you have a photo that, for you, represents the theme of rebirth, sacrifice, or forgiveness, please add your post to Mr.Linky and visit others to see what inspired them. I look forward to seeing your Lenten Focus shots!
