Potty Patrol

This is one of the weirdest things I have ever seen. I found it through Annie, who linked to an interview with Mayim Bialik (remember Blossom?) Anyway, apparently Mayim is a big proponent of "Elimination Communication." At first, I thought, "uh? How could getting rid of communication fit with good parenting??" I was curious, so I checked it out, and I am fascinated.

Elimination Communication is all about noticing your baby's signs indicating that he/she needs to "eliminate." (You know--take a pee or poop.) These babies do not wear diapers, and instead use the toilet (with their parents' help, of course.)

Seeing this little cutie go potty has me thinking I could have tried this!

Here's a 5-month-old baby using the toilet.

These parents from BabiesonPotties.com seem to have it down. This video is a pretty good selling point. [Don't watch if you don't like looking at baby poo, haha!]

This video is six minutes long and explains the Elimination Communication method (without demonstration :)

So, what do you think? Is this the weirdest idea you've ever seen, a very intriguing idea, or something in between? I'd love to know what you think.
