Thousand Words Thursday, Blizzard Edition

Every Thursday, Jen (at Cheaper Than Therapy) hosts a meme of "pictures that say a thousand words." Here's my contribution this week :)

We've had an unseasonably warm fall. I've only worn a winter coat a few times, and we haven't seen a single flake of snow that lasted more than a few hours.

At 7:30 this morning, there was this...

I went back to bed.

Later, I took some more pics....

Fourteen inches, in case you were wondering...

The kids and I are thrilled that we got a Snow Day; the roads are terrible, of course. All of today's school-related events were canceled already last night. Kyle is disappointed that we won't let him drive to a friend's house for their traditional "Glee Fest" tonight, though he is happy that, "They can't cancel Glee!"

Kendall is a diehard winter-snow-fun kind of kid. She didn't let bad roads get in the way of a good time...

She instead walked to a friend's house the back-way...

(It's about a half-mile.) I love her attitude about snow, though it certainly doesn't come from me.

The temperature is predicted to drop to 4 degrees tonight (with -25 degree windchill.)

I think it's safe to say that winter has arrived.

  1. THAT is an impressive snow-fall, my friend! Around here, we get a light drizzle of rain every now and again. Oh, and fog. But snow? Not so much. Looks like you guys are taking up the slack for us.
