Parenting FAIL

Mr.4444's recalls a funny t-shirt that started all the trouble in his high school; the infamous acronym on the shirt created by members of the Ashwaubenon Fine Arts Repertory Theater. (I'll give you a minute to work that one out.)

Yeah, A.F.A.R.T. apparently caused a bit of a stir back in the day, and that's why I think our parenting FAIL is Mr.4444's fault.

I should have paid more attention when Kyle said, "Check out our swim shirts!" and held it up for me to read.
Nothing bad there, right? Keep reading and see if you spot it.

I said, "Nice! I love the color! What does it mean?" and he replied, "It's the words from a song."

Did I ask, "What song?" or notice the LMFAO reference at the bottom? Nope; too busy on the computer...

So, the shirt apparently caused a little stir at the high school. The team captains were called down to the office and told that the shirt offended some teachers and probably shouldn't be worn at school. End of issue, really; no big trouble or anything, but I really feel dumb about not thinking that one through. On the bright side, neither did a handful of other adults who knew about the shirt before it even went to print.

Kyle thinks the objection is dumb, but he's respecting the ruling, of course. And, I suppose if that's the extent of his high school-aged rebellion, we got off easy.

To read the offensive lyrics that are not on the shirt but come to the minds of anyone who knows the song, click here (but make sure no innocents are around!)

  1. Yeah, I think that was pretty daring, and I would bet that the young chap who designed this t-shirt was wanting a teacher reaction! :)

  3. Not familiar with the song so didn't catch what was wrong with the shirt either, although I can imagine what it probably refers to if you want to look for an alternate meaning.

  4. Not knowing the song, I wasn't too offended by the shirt....but then I clicked the link.....and I have to say I know where the school was coming from. I guess "naughty" shirts run in the family gene pool. who would have thought?

In the end....if this is the worst rebellion you get, you are absolutely right, you got off easy! =)

  5. It's funny that if the kiddos would put as much effort into actual school work as they do comin' up with this stuff. My age is showin' but I can sure see the schools side and the funny side of the kids pullin' one over. What can I say??? Life father~~~like son!!!

  6. In comparison, I suppose, AFART looks really lame and boring, as I'm sure your son has pointed out.

This means HIS son has to up the ante by disguising a naked lady in some kind of otherwise tame image on a rallying shirt. (Hopefully, for your sake, that won't be for about 30 years.)

  8. It could have been way worse! I have heard some song lyrics to some of the songs that teenagers listen to! Yikes!

  9. Aaah, yes, that song. Heard that one the other day, and turned to #1 and said "did they just say keep my royal penis clean?" She nodded affirmatively.
Not bad lyrics on the shirt though, when taking out of context.

  13. Took me a while, guess I'm not to with it on LMFAO.

Rachael's swim shirts said something like come watch us swim, everyone is half naked anyways.

  15. I think it's funny. In fact, I'm wondering if my son should suggest those lyrics for HIS swim team shirt next year at his Christian school ...

Yes. I am a trouble maker. But nothing serious! I promise!!!

  18. Call me old. I'd have them change them.

It just peakes curiosity for what it means and further spreads that filth.

    But again. I'm old.

Nice color though, I do agree.
