Friday Fragments, Episode #149

Welcome, oh Fragmented friends! I'm glad you're here. Let's get our frag on, shall we?

I am very sorry about the feed issue with my blog (I've been here, posting, but the posts haven't appeared on Google Reader, etc. They came about some time after I joined a site to improve the speed of my page loading. I'm giving them a chance to help me fix it before I go all psycho about it. Bear with me...

***

Kendall is in Hawaii. We miss her. Thankfully, she's sending plenty of texts to keep us updated.

***

My kids have a running joke about the way I look at them when I am otherwise distracted by the computer  and they want my attention for something.   I turn my head towards them, but my eyes are vacant, and  my hands are still on the keyboard; it’s clear I’m only listening with my face (sort of) and not my ears. (Really, I do that on purpose, because it causes the kids to bond over my faults as a parent.) I mentioned this to Mama Kat of Mama's Losin' It, and she could relate: "Like they're pulling me away from my computer when I'm nooot quite finished processing my thoughts on the screen," which makes it sound a lot nicer. I think we need a special name for that look. Suggestions are welcome!

[Update: You heard it here first, folks! I've got it:  disinternested  Isn't it perfect?! I love it.

I feel like Lisleman, saying this, but who would want to return a baby? That's just rude.

***

I'm SO excited!!!  Kyle and I are soon going on our California adventure, and part of that includes meeting a blogger you may know and love--Unknown Mami!  (I know; you're jealous, right?!) Yes, we're going to San Francisco. No, I'm not worried about you robbing my house while I'm gone; Mr.4444 and the ferocious Cooper will be holding the fort down.

It's your turn, now! Link up here (assuming I got it right--I just now realized Linky Tools has upgraded it's site, and I don't have time to read it all. If you get stuck, leave your link in the comments and I'll add it later tonight).

  1. A good test of that return policy would be if you could return a teenager. I'm wondering what your description of Lisleman is.
My suggestion for the look - Mama Screen Face.

  2. You are handling the fact that you've got a child in Hawaii and you are not much better than I would :)

Seriously? Who at that table didn't realize it would look like they are giving away a baby? Or maybe they, too, thought it was funny!

MCLinky not working, so here is my link up: Friday Fragments: My Birthday Month

  3. Jealous that Kendall is in Hawaii and that you are going to see Unknown Mami and her 2 cutey patooties!!!

  4. My husband would say I give him the same look...

  5. My husband gives me that look. My mother used to do that when she was reading. We had to call her by her name (no MOM) to get her attention. :)

  6. Jealous of Hawaii and jealous that Unknown Mami is going to become Known Mami to you! Unless she plans on wearing that paper bag on her head the whole time- which would be weird.

Maybe the ad isn't to return the baby. Maybe it's to return the husband...

  7. Woooo big jealousy over meeting Unknown Mami! Congrats. Can't wait for pictures and resulting blog posts!

  8. I think my kids have given up on expecting me to hear them when I'm on the computer.

Can you do returns when you've taken the 2 for 1 special offer?

Say Hi to Unknown Mami for me. Even better, take the Vegemite with you and see if you can offload it on her ;-) (Unless you threw it out, which I would totally understand. Though it lasts forever you know - it's all that salt you see.)

  9. Lucky Kendall! But you guys are going to have fun in San Fran!!!!
Do you have to have the receipt and is there a 30 day limit on returns? I certainly wouldn't want to get an exchange!!!

  10. Yay for Kendall! My friend Caty lives in Hawaii and the weather is usually nice.

Say Hi to Unknown! That is awesome!

I linked up as number 13 or something and I ended up as number 6...weird

  11. So excited for you to meet up with Unknown Mami I wonder if you all will have to wear bags over your heads too for pictures!! When do you go ...that's one city on my must see list! Have a wonderful weekend!

  12. Funny story about the "hassle free baby returns"...

My daughter has often told me that I need to take her two brothers back and get her 3 sisters...

    =P

  13. I'm getting my paper bag all spiffed up for you.

  14. You get to meet Mami? Wow, do you think she'll wear the bag the whole time? What about if Put and Luna Pie are there? Think she'll crop their faces out or make them wear a bag?

I do the same thing about when I'm on the computer. Vacant face......yep!

  15. Long time no talk Mrs.4444. Hope you've been well. How fun that you'll get to meet Mami!! Have a great time.

  16. LOL about that Penney's ad. Maybe two babies are too much to handle?

I love meeting other blogger's IRL. Speaking of, when are you coming to Indiana? I know it's not Hawaii or California, but we're good people here.

Guilty as charged on the internet face over here too.

  17. Oh Mrs. 4444, I think I crashed your party!

First of all, my linked post isn't a TRUE Fragmented Friday post - - - I didn't separated it with little starry things. It DOES have several fragmented ideas in it.

Not sure I have any other kind of ideas.

Next - - - when I linked up, I couldn't FIND my link, so I did it again. Now I see I've linked TWICE - - - it fooled me when my link went in the MIDDLE of the links instead of at either end.

    You'll be glad I don't join EVERY week - - - - - -

  18. My husband does that to me - the screen face look. It does need a good name.

You're seeing UK?!!! Oh goodness, I'm so excited for all of you!!!

The new upgrade to the linky is pretty nice - I am a whole day behind I was put in the #18 position! Although it's hard to tell who we haven't read yet, if the new folks get added in, in the middle.

  19. Oh, you'll so enjoy the City by the Bay! My sister and her family live there and I visited during Spring Break a couple of months ago. Hey, I've been traveling quite a bit recently. Just returned from your neck of the woods. It was pleasant and cool in Northeasten WI. I got out of there before the 95 degree temps hit!

  20. My kids have definitely seen that face more than once (a lot more than once!).

You are going to love Unknown Mami! I had the pleasure of knowing her before her rock-star blogger days and she is the bomb! Happy travels!

  21. I had 6 of your posts pop up in my reader today!
LOVE the new term 'disinternested'! I too do that all the time, partly because they interrupt me ALL THE TIME!
I am super jealous that you will be meeting Unknown Mami, I adore her.
