Friday Fragments, Episode #155

“If I don't write to empty my mind, I go mad.” Lord Byron

***

I am taking Kendall and some of her friends tent camping this weekend. Prayers are welcome.

***
Many years ago, my sister Judy shared her Camping Checklist with me, and I use it every time we pack for camping. Since it's so helpful, I thought I would share it with you. Looking at it tonight, I realize it needs some updating ("Boom Box"?LOL), and it's not for minimalists, certainly, but you can save a copy and then adjust it to your own needs.  [For what it's worth, the original document fits on a single page, but I uploaded it to Google Docs, where you can't make columns.]  Here's the link to the PDF version (which is a single page).

Remember how much I whined about not being able to find Lawry's Guacamole mix anymore?
I am so over  it! (I know, right?! You're shocked, and you should be.)
They say that when God closes a door, he opens another one.
The sign on my new door reads, "Allan's Guacamole Recipe!"
You will find the recipe here, on Mrs.4444 Cooks.

I love preschoolers. Here's an example of my favorite thing about that age:
When my nephew Caden was about four years old, he told his mom,
"You shouldn't have told me about the eyes in the back of your head,
cuz now I just go away from the back of your head and pick my nose."

***

This cat has an identity disorder.

P.S. I found the video on Morning Express.

***

I made The Pioneer Woman's Perfect Iced Coffee this week. It's strong but good.
The only bad thing about it is that I have now doubled my daily coffee intake.

***

Just so you know, in real life, I smile a lot.
So, that's why I use a lot of smiley faces when typing.
I sometimes wonder if that annoys the crap out of people,
but I'm probably not going to stop.
Sorry. (But not really, or I would stop, right?)

If you missed Mama Kat's Bang Tutorial, you really should watch it.

Do you have an "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) number in your cell phone?
My ICE number leads to Mr.4444.  Consider this your Public Service Announcement for making sure you have an ICE number in your phone (and it is current)! You never know...

It's your turn! Leave your Friday Fragments link below. (Please add an asterisk to your name if this is your first time fragmenting.)  Have a great weekend!

  1. Lord Byron was mad anyway. C'est la vie. Asi es la vida. I will not stop writing. Even if I am mad.

  2. I thought it went like --
When God finishes the Guacamole, there is always more left for you. - some parable about Guacamole and loaves or something like that.

  3. I did the ICE thing about 18 months ago. My husband is a paramedic and had never heard of it!

  8. I love guacamole so much. yum.

The smiley faces? I'm the same way. I just feel that I have to let that smile show through my typing the way I would in real life.

Perfect Iced Coffee? I'm going to have to check that out.

Happy Friday to you! Have fun on your camping trip.

  9. Fridays come around so quickly it seems.

Hope the camping trip is fun forall.

The camping checklist is a good idea. When my kids and I camped all the time we had a checklist and all would run smoothly. I even have a checklist on the inside of the front door for bike ride so I have water and camera and other stuff I might need. I am a fan of lists.

I visited the site with the fantastic info on iced coffee. Thanks for the link to that.
I am a huge fan of iced coffee, always have been. I will be making it differently from now on. Who said you can't teach old dogs new tricks? This old dog is open to new tricks for sure.

  10. I'm a smiler, too, and use the smiley face symbol in my comments ALL the time. It's who we are. :)

  11. Smiley away!! I do the same thing. :)

In addition to ICE, I also add the connection to important people in my contact list. I just add it in parantheses as part of their name. Susie Jones (pastor), Joe Smith (father in law). I figure that helps if someone finds my phone and is reviewing my contact list to figure out how to reach someone.

  12. I used to use just plain smiley faces like this: :), but my boys told me to start doing it like this: :D for a bigger smile. It fits me better, anyway! :D
And I don't care who it makes mad! :D

  15. Tent camping. How fun. I've been wanting to go beach camping for a while now (I've never been.) That list is great. If I ever make it camping, I'll use it.

Barking cat video. LOL. I love how it's bark slowly turned into a meow when it was caught. Ruff Ru-meow. ha ha

    Mmmm Guacamole.

Happy weekend. Thanks for hosting. You rock!
