Friday Fragments: Episode #164

Hello! Thanks for visiting! It's Friday, the day to unload the bits and pieces of your week that need a home. This week, I have a new header, inspired by a gorgeous sky tonight and the Ortonish Picnik effect. [To learn more about FF, click on the tab above.]  It goes perfectly with Lisleman's cow theme tonight.

***Looking at the corn tonight, I was reminded of the time I wandered into a cornfield on my cousin's farm and got lost. I eventually found my way out, but only after following a chicken. (No, I'm not kidding.) I took the following photo tonight, which might have come in handy when I got lost that time (or to the characters in Children of the Corn horror flicks):

***This week, a co-worker made a mistake and took ownership via email. Because I am my mother's daughter, I replied with, "Well, then--Thirty lashes with a wet noodle for you then! No worries."  She replied, "Could it have a little chicken spaghetti on it, please?" I love being caught off guard like that; too funny.

***I'm kind of excited about Saturday Sampling being hosted by some of you! If I haven't contacted you yet but you offered to host, don't worry--I'll contact you soon hopefully, this weekend). If you'd like to host Saturday Sampling at your place but didn't see my offer, let me know in the comments here, and I'll happily add you to the list. Stay tuned! [p.s. Red Kathy, I need your email address, please.]

Okay, it's your turn now--The linky is ready for your fragmented goodness.

  1. thanks the mention. I like the header and the dead end of the corn fields - great shot. Always good to have some humor at work.

Oh Friday is almost over in some parts of the world and this is the internet after all.

  4. I have never gotten lost in a cornfield but I've always seemed to go in with someone who knew their way out! The chicken was a welcomed sight I bet!

  6. No fragments this week, too tired and might wind up griping...

Hasn't the corn turned "crispy" fast this year? Or did I just suddenly make note of it?

  7. OK...I have to confess. Since I'm a farm chick this is even worse but as a kid I got lost in a cornfield too!

Granny Walden had taken me and my two male cousins to 'club' with her. We went outside to play so the ladies could (gossip) work on their projects. We wandered into the corn field and this was one scared little farm chick!!! Granny didn't find it amusin'...not one bit! Heeehehehe!!!

We're waitin' for a frost before we harvest the corn crop.

I love the line about addin' the chicken to your 'wet' noodles...fun!!!

    Ya'll have a fantastically blessed weekend!!! :o)

  9. I love your corn photo! The colors in the sky really accent it well. We had a corny weekend last week - complete with mazes and corn food. No more for us! I hope you have a great weekend!

  10. Lucky for that chicken. I'm friends with the first boy that got killed in the first Children of the Corn movie. I love him.

  11. Oh my goodness, I'm still laughing about you having to follow a chicken out of a corn field! Hilarious! I guess that chicken knew it's way around! Corn fields especially the haunted maze type ones scare me...and even though I'm stellar at following maps, those maps never make sense! Hope your weekend is great and doesn't involve getting lost! :)

  13. My cousins and I used to hide from each other in the cornfields when we were young. Never got lost, wasn't quite big enough for that :)

    BTW- How's Brennan?
