Welcome to Friday Fragments, where we all empty our heads of the randomness inside, releasing our brains to run fragment-free all weekend! (If that sounds a little risque, doesn't it?) Click on the tab above to learn more about FF.
***Speaking of risque, I called my local radio station this week to register my opinion that I didn't appreciate a song they were playing, which had these lyrics:
So what we get drunk?
So what we smoke weed?
We’re just having fun
We don’t care who sees
So what we go out?
That’s how its supposed to be
Living young and wild and free
Give me some 501 jeans on it
Roll joints bigger than King Kong’s fingers
And smoke them hoes down ’til they stingers
You a class clown and if I skip for the day
I’m with your bitch smokin’ grade A
It's Young, Wild, & Free (with Snoop Dogg and Bruno Mars), on a mainstream pop station. Otis, the DJ who answered the phone, asserted that kids are in school (It was lunch time.) and they "don't even know what the lyrics are referring to, anyway". I asserted that if no one says anything, then it'll be playing all summer, when kids are out of school, and I just think they don't need those kinds of messages about drug use. He thanked me for being nice but said it's a "very popular" song. I guess I can pick another station (and I will), but I figured it didn't hurt to say something.
***On a more cheerful note, I'd like to introduce two new fragmenters! Nani is a seasoned blogger who writes The Chronicles of Nani. Susan is brand-new to blogging and does so at A Vintage Farmwife. Please welcome these two new fraggers :)
***Kendall and I saw Gone (a psychological thriller) at the theater last weekend. We both really liked it. We were surprised to see that not just one, but two Snow White movies are coming out this month. Neither is a cartoon, and both look good. I'm for sure going to Mirror Mirror (with Julia Roberts) and another possibility is Snow White and the Huntsman (with the actress from the vampire movies. Sorry--Don't freak out on me if you're shocked that I don't know her name; I'm not a vampire fan.). I probably won't see both. Mirror Mirror looks like it might be funny, and Julia Roberts's costumes are fantastic, so that's my pick. I have to admit, though; Snow White and the Huntsman looks good, too.
Here's a sample of Julia's costumes:
***Mr.4444 posted this on his Facebook wall this week (the man is not shy):
I travel with disposable wet wipes, just for the fresh feeling. i was suprised to see a spray dispenser in the stall (in Germany) named "Refresh" with animation of spraying on-to toilet paper. Perfect I thought.... after feeling a bit of a sting, I figured out it was disinfectant for the toilet seat. Feeling a bit like Clark W Griswold at the moment.
Your turn! FRIDAY FRAGMENTS links only, please (others will be deleted). Thanks for linking up!
I can't wait to see Mirror Mirror. I was so excited about it a few months ago when I heard and then my issue of Vanity Fair came this weekend. Julia is on the cover, yay! It should be good. I've no interest in the Kristin Stewart one.
ReplyDeleteI backslid into my "Johnny Come Lately" mode today. Sigh
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Julia garb.
I'm giggling RIGHT OUT LOUD about your "sani wipe" story.
Oh good grief - - - you still have word veri up - - - and I really WANT to leave this comment now that I've worked so HARD on it - - - so you're gonna make me into a LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE!
