How to Be My Superhero

Thanks for your patience while I (poorly-equipped to correct such issues) work on the fact that Disqus suddenly isn't cooperating with everyone. I've embedded a little Google Form survey further down in this post to find out what's going on. You can be my superhero today if you choose to take the survey below.

[I am smiling so big right now--You blogging peeps are so awesome :)  I'm looking at the survey results (which get updated live), and I think it's going to be so helpful. If nothing else, it's COOL!) Thanks, so much!]

UPDATE: I think I fixed the problem by "upgrading" to the new Disqus. Once I did that, I was able to change the setting (previously unavailable) for OPENING comments. You should be able to comment now. Just in case, though, I'm leaving the survey open. If  you are able to comment, admire the schedule but don't worry about completing it. If you're not, I'd love your feedback. I will close the survey on Monday. THANKS, EVERYBODY!!!]

Here's what I do know:

*It works for some people.
*Others are getting through to Blogger commenting; those appear in my inbox but not on my blog (right?)
*Still others report that my blog says "Comments are closed" on this post.
*I wonder if the problems appear the same when on the main page, vs. the permalink (the page you land on when you click on the title of a post.)

*I just turned the "mobile version" of posting off, as per some random-and-nice guy on a Blogger forum. Maybe that will work?

*Disqus Customer Service (who returned my email right away this morning, btw) said I might need to switch to Disqus 2012 but also gave me some other ideas, so I'll work on that.

AND NOW, for your geeky enjoyment, here's the survey, in case you're interested in helping me fix this problem! [Note:  I adjusted the dimensions of the survey, but it's still doesn't fit perfectly in the post. To see the questions that are hidden, just click inside a blank spot in the post and use your keyboard's down-arrow to display it.]

  3. two more comments -
    1)  I enjoyed seeing options like "my mind" in the survey.  Do you write tests like that at school?
    2) you should just update to the new DISQUS

  4. Ok, comments are enabled on this post ... but the Friday Fragments post is still closed to comments ... at least for me.  ;-)

  6. 1) Yes, I do like to be funny on tests.
    2) I just did. I think.

  7. Thank you! I wonder if it has to do with your being signed in to Disqus already when you came over...hm

  8. Hm. And you do it so well, too. Thanks :)

COmments are ok here and on FF, but I can't read the last question on the survey. Guess you can't win them all, can you? :)

  10. Can't win for losing.... The last question is the best one! (What's your super hero name?) :)

  11. alright - the new version - fellow disqus users are all proud of you.

  12. signing it first does make it go quicker and smoother but I have forgotten before and it still works. Also you don't need to sign in with disqus. Readers can use FB or other sign-ins I believe.

  13. Interesting. I'll figure it out eventually. Hopefully the new system fixes the problem, but I know someone messaged me after I added it to say that she couldn't comment. :( Oh well...1st World Problems...right?!

  14. I just figured out that you can click inside the body of the survey and use your down-arrow to show the last question.

  15. Well, first I have to TRY to leave a comment so I can "scope" out the lay of the comment land.

This is definitely a blogger comment form. Is it supposed to be???

I LOVE blogger comment forms, they work so well and so easily for moi.

And, we know it is ALL ABOUT MOI.

    ;-)

  16. OK, so I filled in the entire "stinkin" survey form, only when I got to the bottom of it, there wasn't any place to submit it!!!!

There were the top thirds of a few letters, or something, but I couldn't read it or use it.

    So - - - sorry - - - - I can't be counted in the survey today.

What a pity since this WAS all about moi. ;-)

  17. hmmm I tried to comment last night on my phone but I thought that would be a fair survey because I don't ever comment on my phone only my laptop. I tried to comment today and I had to download google chrome. I don't know if my results will count or not.

  18. oh and i didn't get the super hero question on my computer only phone, my superhero is JPM

  19. Expect a survey soon on the Gumbo via Google Docs. Tres cool.

  20. I'm not sure if I'm seeing your results. Did you enter your super hero name? I wouldn't know how to identify yours if you didn't. No one who answered said they were using their phone to do so, and I don't see any answers for the question about using a mobile device. This has been so interesting! Thanks for your time--I really appreciate it!

  21. I loved Google docs before knowing about the survey option. Now, I am eager to explore more features. Thanks for the helpful tip.

  22. You're very welcome. Forms is very customizable. You can even choose a theme/background for your survey and choose all different kinds of response options. Just google "How to make a survey using Google Forms" and let me know if you need any help! [You've inspired me to go back and change the theme of the survey on my blog--Check it out! It's too wide for my blog, so I'll switch it back later today, but you'll be able to see the potential, and maybe I can even figure out how to change the width!)

  23. Totally awesome. I need to get up from this keyboard. But that's almost worth skipping my walk time.
