Social Media Stumping

I don't talk politics on Half-Past Kissin' Time, but I am interested in it and found this infographic by Sarah Wenger worth sharing. It addresses the impact of social media on elections, specifically the next presidential election.

What about you? Do you talk politics anywhere on the Internet? Are you working hard to influence others, do you casually speak out when you're irritated (or excited) enough, or is talking politics on-line taboo to you?

  1. I prefer to keep my political opinions to myself. I'm so tired of people posting political ads on their face book status. Isn't it enough that we have to see the commercials non stop on TV! I don't think it will sway anyone. So what's the point?

    1. I don't need to see any more ads, either, though I have to admit that it's sometimes interesting to see what my friends' political views are. Thank goodness it'll be over soon...

  2. I don't talk politics anywhere except on twitter when I'm watching the debates and get fired up! I feel like on twitter it's okay because what is twitter for except a rant or rave or mind farts here and there! That's my two cents!

    1. I totally agree!

Hey, will you please let me know if you got this reply AS WELL AS the one I sent yesterday? Trying to figure something out...

  3. One of the facts above was use of fact checking sites. I've used those sites the 2004 election. I wish more people did. During last night's debate I mentioned to our youngest daughter that these are the first set of debates with noticeable twitter activity. I also received a text from another daughter about the debate. I think we will see more and more discussion online during campaigns. I don't know if it has more impact than bumper stickers. I avoid politics online but have expressed some views.

    1. I love the way social media has connected us with our kids even more; it's going to make missing my kids a little better :)

    1. I just went and checked out your tweets and found them entertaining. I love that Twitter allows us to participate "together." In activities of interest (like debates and tv shows) and chat. I think opinions and Twitter are perfect for each other. :)

  5. If not for the internet and social media, youtube especially, and G+, I would not have been able to get to learn and understand Ron Paul and I would not be able to know the works of politics by the mainstream media, well I had some idea but I would not be able to witness it firsthand. And yes I tried to influence people and spread the message through the social media. Still all in all, I hate politics and want to stay away from it but I am a two person person :)
