Sundays in My City: P-town Basketball

Unknown Mami

Arriving early to help set up musical concessions yesterday,
I decided to poke my head (and my camera) into the gym
to see how the regional championship basketball game (in its final 30 minutes) was going;
I thought it would be a good opportunity to practice using my new camera,
and I'm happy to say that it was; the game was incredibly exciting (and stressful)!

I don't know much about basketball, but I knew this game was a big deal.
The coach in the black shirt, behind the head coach,
is one of the most mild-mannered guys you'll ever meet in the classroom;
it cracked me up to see him so fired up.
I have to wonder how the coach on the left stayed in his seat!

The kid on the right is the all-time P-town high scorer,
working to take his team to state for the first time since 1989.
Ranked #2 in their division, they have a great chance.

This was the scoreboard during overtime:

These are my three favorite pics from this series:
Think the kid on the right will be on the team one day?

Or maybe he'll be a coach.

Poor kid; I thought he was going to have a heart attack.

Thankfully, our team won, beating a team they lost to twice this year.
The young man at the bottom of this pile scored the final points with just eight seconds left,

and that little guy on the sidelines? His team loyalty did not go unnoticed...

Sooo cute.

Final score: 44-43
Congrats to the P-town basketball team
 for advancing to the next level of the regional championship.
