Friday Fragments: Episode #312

Half-Past Kissin' Time

When you read my fragments this week, you'll totally understand why I feel a little cluttery in the brain; thank goodness it's time to shake the fragments loose!

The results of the MRI I had two weeks ago showed a "significant tear" of my right rotator cuff and a small tear in my right. Since I've worked hard to correct my shoulder issues with aggressive anti-inflammatories, physical therapy, and rest (as Mom would say, "If it hurts when you do that, don't do that!") without success for the past seven months, surgery is the only other option. Since the recovery is long and I have to be back at school in less than a month, we're rushing to get it in; I'll go under the knife on Thursday of next week.

***

I'm not sure if yoga brought my shoulder issues to light or if it caused them (due to incorrect alignment of chaturangas). I suspect a combination, as that pose never felt comfortable to me, and I sought out guidance for how to do it without discomfort. I spent a lot of time trying to find online videos that would show me what I was doing incorrectly, but none of them turned a light on for me until the one I found this week, The Strength-Building Post That Lots of People Do Wrong. It breaks the pose down to its technical elements in a very clear manner. I've pinned it for the day I can return to yoga!

I'm pretty sure I won't be having any good hair days for the next few months. I'm not looking forward to Picture Day at school. Teachers have to have their photos taken, too, and they go up on a huge board near the Main Office. I never like my school picture on a good day, either.

***

My surgery will cost $21,120.65; I'm very grateful that I have excellent insurance coverage and will only have to pay my deductible.

***

My heart goes out to those who suffer in pain because they don't have decent health insurance. Or is everyone taken care of these days with Medicaid and Obamacare? Seriously; I don't know the answer to that question. [sorry]

***

My sister Michelle will pick me up after surgery and take me home. With any luck, she'll get one of those I'm-so-wasted-aren't-I-hilarious videos of me. [no pressure, Michelle]

***

Our visitors have been having a ball. This week, Michelle has them, but I met up with them yesterday and took this photo.

Their stay is drawing to a close, and yes; the three siblings are starting to bicker, so maybe that's a good thing.haha  I'll be driving them half-way home on Tuesday.

This weekend is our 3-day family reunion. It's going to be fun but marked by a missing family member; my mom's sister and best friend is ill and will miss her first reunion ever; it just won't be the same without Aunt Charlotte.

It's your turn now; link up your Friday Fragments post below and kick your weekend off fragment-free!
