Now, Where's My Dramamine?

Who plans a field trip (2.5 hours each way), on a bumpy school bus during "Teacher Appreciation Week"? (Certainly not an exhausted teacher who gets motion sickness at the slightest provocation.) That's just mean.

Who imagines that 300 sixth graders will be enthralled with The Dead Sea Scrolls for an hour and a half? (That's how long that part of the tour is.)

Who decides that the buses will stop for NOTHING along the way, to or from Milwaukee? (I'd bring my Go-Girl, but something tells me that would be even more awkward than my demonstration video.) I wonder if I should bring a bucket or something, for "emergencies?"

Who thinks teachers have "gravy" jobs? If you do, you should take my place today. (Please pray for me...)

And God bless parent volunteers.

[Update: The day went much better than I'd feared. Nobody puked or wet their pants on the bus, and from what I saw, the kids were mostly great!]

  1. My sister used to teach 1st grade. I chaperoned a trip to the fire station once. That's when I first figured out that teacher's don't get paid enough. Thanks for what you do!

  6. I don't think anyone who can think would describe a teacher's job as a gravy job. Nope. You have a really tough job. Hope the day goes well.

  9. my I suggest a trip to the local mall. Definately more attention and plenty of places to...go.

Milwukee - they make beer there. That'd been a better trip.

You best have a few on me.

  11. Well, getting here a little late, but hope you made it home okay, and you are now resting, with a cold wash cloth over your eyes, and dreaming about the wonderful dinner hubby is going to bring home so you do not have to cook!

After all, it is nearly Mothers' Day!

You should have gotten a sub. LOL

  13. Glad the trip was survived by all. In our district a school bus would never be freed up for such a long trip. The school would rent tour busses - and accordingly, the cost of the trip would go up about $20/student!
