Yesterday, I did laundry all day and was feeling quite accomplished.
That is, until I opened the kids' hamper door and saw this:
It's probably a good thing that I'm back at school today; I'm not cut out for housework.

Ha! See, this is why I make the kids do their own laundry.
ReplyDeleteWell my sweat pea, I agree with mimbles. My kids do their own laundry too. My husband used to do all the laundry but mine(control issue, pleaze stupid). Finally he began making K do all his own. R does his because well, because spouse uses a higher heat in the dryer and has thrashed many t-shirts that way in the past. He completely denies those charges but my huge collection of over sized collegiate t's now have cracked print because of excessive heat in drying. (He has done my laundry in the past and/or turns the dryer back on so I can fold my own clothes when he wants the dryer).
ReplyDeleteYep, I'd be glad to be back at school, too!

I would think your wonderful, mature kids would do their own laundry! Or, at least help with it.
ReplyDeleteHa! I so know the feeling. It's never-ending. I can't wait for my kids to be back in school, mean mommy that I am...

Cool set up. Can I just say that at our house, if you opened a hamper door - laundry chute like that you'd probably find a cat, parent or babysitter duct taped and wild eyed from fear of the new five year old that is systematically terrorizing our house. Truly.
ReplyDeleteKyle's been doing laundry for a few years, but Kendall has not. Guess it IS time I taught her a new life lesson :)
ReplyDeleteMamaDrama-You cracked me up!!
Lucky you!! Time to teach the kids how to use the washer & dryer.
ReplyDeleteOh I hate doing the laundry. I would put it off for a time too. lol! You were certainly up for a surprise.
ReplyDeleteSeeing that laundry pile of yours brought back a lot of memories to me of years -thankfully -long since past! Today, I no longer worry about the laundry as I have turned that chore over -very happily too I might add -to my dear, sweet, darling daughter here. (I gave it up mainly because it involved going down the cellar steps and Gram's footing is not quite what is used to be and I figured it would be better for her, not me, to be trying to get up and down those stairs. Besides, I really didn't relish the thought of falling and ending up with another broken bone, ya know!)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with getting that job ever caught up. I didn't get to do that till all three of mine moved out but then the youngest moved back home and with her came the two little grandkids who can go through a new outfit in record time, or so it seems!
You are way more helpful than I was with my kids. As soon as they could reach the top of the washer knobs, they were washing their own clothes. Smile.
ReplyDelete#1: Awesome setup! I love the laundry chute/hamper cupboard design!
ReplyDelete#2: I'm with MamaDrama...one of my kids would most certainly put Something Inappropriate down there, to include a sibling!
#3: Laundry... *sigh* it's a neverending beast! My oldest is nine & will soon be taught the ropes...it's constant in a house of seven people, & I've always sworn that each new baby adds an exponential factor to the laundry...we now do laundry not for seven people, but to the seventh power!
Ha! I have a hamper that looks just like that...
ReplyDeleteLooks familiar!
ReplyDeleteDon't you find it interesting that builders put laundry shoots in the most awkward places or why can't they make the cupboard bottom at waist height at least so the laundress can easily remove said laundry from said shoot?!
Ha. Sorry- mini rant.
Have a great day NOT doing laundry! :)
Ugh, that's just awful!
ReplyDeleteWow. You've made ME feel better though; my laundry pile isn't quite that big yet. :)
ReplyDeleteAs a friend of mine says, "unless you do laundry naked, you are never caught up!"
ReplyDeletewow...makes me thankful me and the hubby only have 12 articles of clothing between us! :)
ReplyDeleteI had the same thought as others about dropping themselves or siblings down the chute.
ReplyDeleteAre there any little pets missing around the house?
Close the door and run !
ReplyDeleteMe thinks ya need to show Kendall where the Tide is! Love you system.
ReplyDeleteLove to clean, do laundry and all that neat tidy stuff. ' Just twisted that way. :o)
God bless ya and have a beautiful day.
Drop by and meet my Angel when ya get a chance. "K??"
I don't mind doing housework, including the laundry. I joke with my wife that I'm going to start a house cleaning business, and call it..."Manly Maids". I'll charge extra for cleaning topless.
ReplyDeleteWe used to do about three loads of laundry a week. Now, with the addition of just one small child I do laundry every day. It never ends.
ReplyDeleteSoooo who does laundry while you're in school?? Or should I just send some Febreeze?
ReplyDeleteThat picture is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to live in a house with a laundry chute....and a secret passage. I read a lot of Nancy Drew as a child.
I feel like laundry is the Never Ending Story. It goes on and on forever. It is a thankless task too...you finally get caught up and then sure enough at the end of the day there are dirty clothes thrown in the hamper and waiting for you. Sometimes I swear I can hear the hamper laughing at me.
