Friday Fragments, Episode #109
Welcome to Friday Fragments. This week is the Back to School theme, starting with one of my Favorite Friday Fragments, from Gina, at My Own Brand of Crazy. Gina was school shopping with her young adult sons...
"Okay, Garrett, what do you need for your apartment?"
"I don't know."
"Well, you need things like cleaning supplies and dish towels and an iron and.............."
"Wait. What? I thought my apartment was furnished."
Shoot me. Shoot me now.
I'm pretty sure many of us can relate to this, sadly. Thanks, Gina! Enjoy your award!
***I was starving after work tonight and stopped at the store to pick up a few things. I thought I had made a good choice, buying a certain brand of "Crispy Fish Tenders." I should have stopped at "Crispy," as they were very greasy (though tasty, of course) and put me way over my limits (double) on SparkPeople for fat. Lesson learned: Don't impulse-buy food for dinner!
***We're moving Kyle into his dorm on Monday. I will be missing a teacher Work Day but hope to make it to Open House at 3:30pm. (Note to self: Wear waterproof mascara on Monday.)
***Especially now that I am back at work, I truly appreciate those of you who link up your favorite posts from the week on Saturday Sampling. It keeps me in the loop and gives more play to posts that certainly deserve it! Thanks.
***I'd like to give a little shout-out to Kristin, of The Goat. Kristin, you are a real sweetheart. I love the way you visit so many Saturday Sampling posts and leave such sweet, cheerful comments. You're a gem.
That's it for me. I am wiped out after just two days of working, in preparation for students to arrive on Wednesday. Frag away! I'll try to keep up! :)

That frag was funny, for sure!
ReplyDeleteHope you get some rest this weekend and that the move goes well. How exciting!
I think we all impulse buy at one time or another. Heaven knows I sure do.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to Kyle. What a stepping stone for him. He's going to really enjoy this chapter of his life. And don't worry there mom, you both did a great job raising him. He'll be fine.....and so will you.
A new school year. Go get 'em.
Kristin is a sweetheart and so are you.
ReplyDeleteThis is a busy, busy time of year for you!
ReplyDeleteMy oldest starts kindergarten tomorrow and I'm so behind in blogging- I'll definitely check out Saturday Sampling to try to catch up!
Pre-school starts again next week for us, so my FF post is about our vacation. Will definitely be heading over to check out some of the SS posts this week now I am getting back up to speed.
ReplyDeleteAwww! Thanks :) That's twice today that I have been called a sweetheart! I must just be radiating today or something. Thank you so very much.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to work and I do hope that your son enjoys college. That's a great first step.
Kristin - The Goat
This seems to be a busy time of year for everyone, but for teachers especially!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday! =)
Gee does a furnished apartment mean it comes with a cook and maid too. Scary how some don't have a clue.
ReplyDeleteHope everything goes well with moving Kyle! You'll do great, I'm sure! Don't forget dark sunglasses, and tissue that doesn't leave lint in the corners of your eyes! ;-)
ReplyDeleteRest up this weekend girl, sounds like your Monday is chucked full of fun and adventure. This chick has found it best to always wear waterproof mascara...ya know...always be prepared!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the move and a full week of school.
God bless and have a fantastic Friday sweetie!!!
I hear you on the impulse shopping. Mine usually end up with a bag of doritos to go with a bag of sour gummy worms. Of course, the kid gets a "real" dinner :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck on Monday. I was a teary mess when my baby turned two, I can't even begin to imagine what college feels like!
OMG! That was a great post about the apartment. Boy howdy is he in for a surprise.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for the week ahead. I am off to visit the rest of the fragmenters!
Totally agree with the shout out to Kristin- she's pretty awesome!!
ReplyDeleteBack to school time!! I'll be thinking of you on Monday...
My impulse buy after work this week was cupcakes. CUPCAKES!! Today I need to throw them away.
ReplyDeleteI agree about Kristin. What a genuinely kind person and commenter she is :)
Thanks for the award!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you do it! Teaching all day would be exhausting......well, and I would be in jail after the first week for killing someone. So I guess I could catch up my sleep in jail.
Good luck this next week moving Kyle into his dorm. Don't let him see you cry!
Love the Fave Fragments!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you can handle the week! It's a big change, I'm sure. Good luck!
good luck moving Kyle into his dorm! I know it will be bittersweet ... love your fav frag!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to stop and say hi; haven't been around much but am happy to participate today! Good luck moving Kyle, that will be hard.
ReplyDeleteLOL Gotta love boys!
ReplyDeleteMmmm, greasy food. Sometimes ya just gotta do it!
Good luck moving Kyle into his dorm!!
Not a lot of time this morning to go around visiting. I'll try to come back later.
I recently joined Spark People..I love it so far, aside from seeing how unhealthy a lot of the things I love to eat are! :) Good luck moving Kyle into the dorm!
ReplyDeleteI love that Gina & her boys!
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, Kristin too.
Happy Friday!
That furnished apt. comment is right up there with Middle Son texting me to let me know that it costs money to do laundry in college! Soooo funny! Make sure Kyle knows if he has to pay to wash his clothes! :D
ReplyDeleteGina's post was a riot...good luck this weekend with your dorm experience. I'll be thinking about you - hugs!
ReplyDeleteHave a GREAT first week at school! And blessings on getting Kyle moved in to his dorm! :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a big day on Monday! Hope it's a fantastic year for Kyle.
ReplyDeleteI've been away from the frags for a couple of weeks. So nice to be back.
Kristin is a pretty awesome commenter. When I grow up... well I hope to learn from her
ReplyDeleteI'm crying about sending my baby off to 1st grade next week. I can't even fathom the thought of packing my kids up for college. Luckily I still have about 8 years to worry about that. Don't forget your tissues and your camera and we want to hear all about how it goes!
ReplyDeleteMy sister is starting her Jr. year of college, and this year is moving into an off-campus apt. with 3 other friends. My mom told her to go pick out a bed at a local furniture store and get it purchased and then when my parents had the U-Haul they could swing by and pick it up before heading to her new apartment. My sister calls my mom up in near hysterics and says that picking out a bed is just too overwhelming and she doesn't know what she wants. My mom says, "You are 20 years old. You tell them what size you need and the cheapest one, please." LOL!
ReplyDeleteGOOD LUCK TOMORROW!!!!!
