Campin' Kids

Ah....summer camping.  The little cutie pie campers in this photo are Mr.4444 and his big brother, Bobby.  Grandpa 4444 really knew how to camp! This tent is huge, and believe it or not, we have used it as recently as a couple of years ago; it's a nice, sturdy, canvas tent.

I just love, love, love this shot, and I never would have seen it if Grandma 4444 hadn't dug up the box of slides from the basement recently and paid to have them converted to a CD.  Today's photo is another gem made possible by slide conversion at Memory Hub, which gave me 100 free slides in exchange for my sharing the experience, and I am very happy to share--Working with them was great. We paid $.39 per slide to have 340 others converted, as well. As you can see, they do wonderful work!  Many of the photos had started to get faded, moldy, etc. and Memory Hub was able to clean almost every one beautifully. (What's that saying? You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear?  There were only a few photos that are less than perfect, and that wasn't Memory Hub's fault--only Father Time's.)  I'm very, very happy they were able to help Grandma 4444 share lots and lots of memories with us.

What are you waiting for? You know you have old photo slides/vhs/etc. lying around, just getting decrepit. Give your family a priceless gift by sending them in to be converted. You will be very happy you did.

  2. That shot is precious!

I have little doohicky thing on my scanner that has successfully allowed me to scan my mom's slides. Unfortunately I've only captured about five of them. This is a friendly reminder to me to resume my scanning project, it's long overdue.

  3. Great picture! And thanks for the slide/conversion suggestions. WE HAVE A TON!!! So, in addition to converting the 8mm and VHS home movies to DVDs, I can now think about getting rid of all those slides! Mr. Noexcuses used to aspire to be Ansel Adams! Now, he just pimps out old VW buses!

    Have a blast camping!

  8. What a great pic!

My boys want to go camping... I think it's a good activity for father-son bonding. While mama stays at home.

  9. great picture. Recovering the slides from my parents home was a real treasure.
That had to be more than a weekend camping trip. I noticed a welcome mat, flag, a broom at the ready and the portable sink. I little more time and the shrubs would have been planted.

  11. This pic would be a great one for that thing people have started doing where they recreate an old pic from childhood but as adults.

  12. Two questions...what kids camp dressed like it was winter - where are the shorts and t-shirts? And, where do you place the air conditioner? I don't do hot anymore.

  14. The color is great after all these years. Was the source Kodachrome or Ektachrome? Or something else?
