Christmas Re-Cap, Photo Version

On Christmas Eve, we snuck out to our Social Experiment and added a little garland.

For those wondering, our little experiment was 100% more successful than last year, having at least five or six ornaments added by anonymous neighbors, so we're happy, especially considering the cold/snowy/rainy weather we've had all week. Here's the end result...

Next year, we're shooting for at least ten ornaments :)

Christmas Day was filled with happy kids....

and happy grandmas....

Grandma 4444 treated us to a prime rib dinner tonight. We prepared it at our house, with Mr.4444 working his magic as the rest of us watched.

I've only had prime rib a few times in my lifetime, but I have to say it was the best meat I've ever tasted. Wow. Vegetarians Beware: This next photo could be disturbing....

As Mr.4444 prepared it, the kids recited lines from this video (which is hilarious and sad at the same time....Poor little kid!) [BTW, the lemon was NOT part of the prime prep, in case you were wondering! :) ]

Can you see what's wrong with in this picture?

No, it's not Amy reaching across the table (she's serving the prime), or the bottle of beer (hey, beer goes with prime, or so I'm told). I'll wait and see if anyone catches it...

As delicious as the meal was, the best part was sitting at the table, long after the eating had ended, telling stories and laughing (hard). We are so blessed...

Finally, I leave you with a photo of one of Mr.4444's and my favorite gifts, played on my computer repeatedly Christmas Day--Brought to you by Kyle and Kendall, courtesy of a fun booth they found at the mall called Bobbing Heads (picture "Elf Yourself," in DVD version.) We laughed so hard!

They sat in front of a green screen and did this in the middle of the mall, as other Christmas shoppers watched. (I guess the booth can be rented for parties, too, which sounds fun to me.)

I wasn't sure if my pics really fit in Weekly Winners or Sundays in My City, but here they are. If you have a photo post from your Christmas, feel free to drop the link in your comment :)

  1. Is it that (I guess it's you) has a bottle of beer AND a glass of wine? Or is that in fact 2 different people's beverages? I don't see anything else...but I'll keep looking lol.

  3. Is that ketchup or wyrup in front on Kendall? Either way, it's wrong.

  4. DingDingDing!! Weaselmomma, you are very observant! Yes, that's ketchup in front of Kendall, and she refused to give it up, in spite of a lot of harrassment from around the table. Ketchup with PRIME RIB? SERIOUSLY? Anyway, she did agree to try a bite without it, and she said it was very good, but she still used ketchup to "enhance" the flavor of the rest of it. Crazy kid!

  5. I was going to guess the ketchup too! My dad is the same way.

I love all of the photos. Looks like a great evening.

  7. I was going to point out the ketchup as well, but weaselmomma beat me to it. We had prime rib on Christmas Eve AND on Christmas Day, and it was wonderful BOTH times! Sigh....if I were rich I might eat it at least once a month, wouldn't you?

It looks like a lovely, lovely time, and I am happy for you.

  8. I love the post and think it totally fits, so I'm linking you.

BTW, nothing wrong with a little lemon on prime rib. Try it.

  12. The after dinner table crazies is always the best part at our house, too. Great pictures!

  13. Oh, I was going to say that you not sitting there and eating your meal while hot and making someone ELSE take the picture was what was wrong. ;) But I suppose ketchup on prime rib is a lot wronger. Like my English. LOL

  17. Mmmm prime rib. But uhhh not with ketchup. My biggest issue was the empty chair though ;)

So glad the community tree appears to be catching on. I can't wait to see what it looks like this year. I hope you enjoyed working the stadium!

  18. I see the ketchup is the "what's wrong." My oldest puts ketchup on everything, even pizza!

  20. Love the dvd idea! Those elves are always so funny. And, the pic of Kendall is so colorful! :)

  21. I was going to guess ketchup too. It rang familiar to me, my daughter puts ketchup on everything. I season meat to perfection, and she RUINS it by drowning it in ketchup! Drives me nuts.
Dinner looks wonderful & I'm glad you had a great holiday!

  22. mmmmmmmmm! I love prime rib! We had it too. I cook mine on the rotissire, or however you spell that? lol So good! What a great looking family you have. I love that your kids didn't mind making bobble heads in front of people. That means they are secure in themselves. Good for them.

  23. Oh and I am with "Rooster" I thought it was the fella on the end saying the blessing? lol My kids use Ranch dressing on everything! ha ha

  24. Ugh, prime rib & ketchup? Oh boy. But that prime rib looked fabulous! And I noticed too, not a lot of extras for the plate - that's good cause with prime rib who needs much else?

  25. Something very wrong with ketchup on Prime Rib. Your kiddos are just a couple of rock~stars!

    Have a great Christmas break!!!

  26. I'm thinking it's the catsup. In our house you NEVER put catsup on any cut of meat above GROUND BEEF. (That's not saying I haven't been known put it on a steak occasion now that I'm a grown up, but never Prime Rib!)

    Looks like a fabulous day!

  27. I tried not to read the other comments just so i could look at your picture with my own eyes.
I think it's the ketchup...but hey, there's always someone who wants it or needs it. MIght as well just put it out!
Happy Holidays --love your social experiment!!!!

  28. Christy, I noticed the same thing; the table looks empty. However, that's because I served the TWICE-BAKED potatoes a la carte! We also had sauteed mushrooms and broccoli, and now my mouth is watering....

  29. OMG-You guys crack me up!

The "guy saying grace," believe it or not, is Mr.4444's brother, Bob, overcome with pleasure over the "beautiful meal." Seriously. He had just said, "I'm just going to sit here and look at this beautiful plate for a minute." And that's what he did. (the grace came after everyone had been served). Bob is really going to get a good laugh at that comment!

  30. where's the horseradish sauce??

tell Kendall to ditch the ketchup...the BEST was for prime rib is with a horseradish sauce. hubby made prime rib for our Christmas Dinner this year too....soooooooo good. and his sauce had horseradish, sour cream, lemon in it....it was perfect.

  31. oh we had twice baked potatoes and green beans with our rib....with pecan and apple pie for dessert! yummmmmmmy!
