Friday Fragments, Episode #107

Welcome to Friday Fragments, where we gather to purge our minds of the miscellany!
Warning:  For some reason, all of my fragments this week are related to food!

[veggie pic courtesy of clker]

Ten days ago, I decided I needed to lose some weight. Why? Because while I did buy one bra in "that" size, I refuse to buy another! (Yes, that's my barometer; when I look at myself in a photo and see nothing but BOOBS, it's time to hit the gym.) So, I joined SparkPeople (thanks, Michelle, for the encouragement) and have been very successful!  It's kind of like Weight Watchers and Facebook combined (but you don't have to use the social part), and it's free. I highly recommend it if you need structure, goal-setting, and like to be able to have tons of free video workouts at your disposal. So far, I've lost 6 pounds and feel terrific! (No, SparkPeople and I do not have a business relationship; this is strictly my sincere personal recommendation.)

BTW, if you happen to see a bag of Cheetos Cruncy Cheddar Jalapeno in the store, BUY SOME! They are DELICIOUS. Sad to say I cannot partake until I reach my goal weight (at which point, I may inhale an entire bag), but I wanted to let you know.

HEY, CHEETO PEOPLE--Please make some baked Cheddar Jalapeno!! Thank you.

If you missed my video of Mom earlier this week (telling a cute story), visit Sometimes, You'd Just Rather Starve.

Recently, when an old friend called me and said, "It's been so long! Let's have lunch!" I replied, "How about a nice, long walk, instead?" She took me up on it, so we're going to go for a walk on a local trail (just as soon as the temps drop below melting point!)

I found Carol's Slow Cooker BBQ'd Beef recipe at SparkPeople. It's delicious!

[UPDATE! OMGOSH! The Extreme Makeover Home Edition people contacted me to volunteer on Monday night (from 10pm to 6am)! I'm SO excited!!! Stay tuned for more excitement!]

I've caught up on all of my emails and enjoyed Saturday Samplings from last week. Friday Fragments is next! Add your FRIDAY FRAGMENTS to the linky below and expect to see me (and hopefully others! :) soon! [Non-Friday Fragment posts will be deleted-Sorry. Click here for FF rules.]

  1. Oh wow! Dieting and opting for a walk instead of lunch, very impressive. I just got myself the Jillian exercise video and tried it for the first time today which proved to me just how very unfit I have become this last 6 months. But I am going to reform and redeem myself :-)

  6. Pat on the back to you for taking a step (pun intended) in the right direction for being healthier. But just for the record, I have no problem seeing nothing but boobs. Just sayin'.

  7. Mmm, those cheetos sound good. I also saw that Dunkin Donuts has a jalapeno cheese stuffed bagel, but I guess I shouldn't have told you that, huh? Ooops.
I'm so excited for you about the Extreme Home Makeover!

  8. I have been dieting since forever, but this year, I have vowed to be really serious with it so that I can be healthier. I have managed to get the junk food from my house, and that's a start, but seriously, cheetos, really sounds good! Sigh! I'll pass! Great job on your weight loss by the way.

  9. Six pounds in 10 days. You rock! I'm hoping the weather starts cooling off soon -- I'd love to be able to go for walks again without falling over from heat stroke.

You HAVE to take lots of pictures is you get to volunteer for Extreme Makeover. Ty is from Atlanta, you know... :)

  10. So that would be a boob-o-meter, instead of a barometer. Bwahahaaha. Sorry, its early, its the best I can do.

Working on FF post. Will link up when finished. My favorite blogging day of the week. So much fun!

  13. Extreme Makeover, huh? That sounds exciting! I wish we would get that show here.
You are very disciplined, if you took a walk rather than going out to lunch. Way to go!

  14. They did an Extreme house around here. We didn't volunteer, but we did drive by the finished product. Is that enough participation?

My walking partner quit on me this summer and I was surprised how sad it made me. Your good choices are really paying off - You already look terrific.

  18. I have to admit I put on a few extra pounds this summer and so has hubby. All that yummy hospital cafeteria food we have been eating. I think we will both check out Spark. I have finally learned to do the links and photos in my post(is it sad that I am so excited about that).
    You have a terrific week...

  19. The chances of me finding Jalapeno Cheetos in a store round here are pretty much zero. This makes me sad.

I like your veggie pic dividers, very cute :-) (And that clip art site looks handy *bookmarks*)

  23. Right on with the success of your dropping the weight...be careful of those cheetos though, they're sneaky little things...you can't just eat one, it's gotta be a whole bag.

  24. Ok using my recently discovered detective skills (see a recent post of my about a sheriff's dept) I suspect you have lied in the above post. Ok maybe a "white" lie.
"..They are DELICIOUS. Sad to say I cannot partake until I reach my goal weight.."
Please tell the court Mrs. 4444 how you would know they are delicious if you cannot partake????

  25. Congratulations on your loss! I usually can tell I'm getting bigger by my boobs too...I've thought about joining SparkPeople but I've grown to love Calorie-Count.com.

The extreme make-over people were in our city last fall and we saw several of the cast members at restaurants around town. Unfortunately I wasn't able to be available to volunteer, I would love to though, it seems like an experience of a lifetime!

  34. I'm glad you're doing so well with SparkPeople. I have heard of it before and thought about it, but then with all the stress in my life, I lost all my weight and then some.

Are the jalapeno Cheetos different than the flaming Cheetos? I buy my son the flaming ones.
