Confession Time

I have a confession to make. It's really hard for me to admit this, as I was always saying, "There is no way I would ever do that!  I'm not going to judge what other people do, but over my dead body will you see me do that."

And yet, I am now letting a dog sleep in my bed.

There--I said it.

I haven't gone completely over the edge, though; Milo does trot into his little kennel next to the bed every night at bedtime. However, last week, I learned that if I pull him into bed with me at 6am (instead of taking him outside), he sleeps for 2-3 more hours!  That's hours, People! Hours!

And the snuggling...the snuggling! It's wonderful. Mr.4444 travels sometimes, you know; Milo can't spoon me, of course, but he can breath puppy breath on me and make little groany sounds that are adorable.

The scary thing? We now have Steve (yellow lab puppy). (No, we did not ever let Cooper sleep with us.)  I mean it this time; over my dead body will I share a bed with a big dog.

Okay, that's my confession for today. What's yours?

  1. Hey 2-3 hours is golden! Now that Katelyn is gone Sophie sleeps in her bed next to ours and usually at 5am she is trying to jump up and I lift her on and she snuggles and sleeps another hour or so....it's golden!

    1. When it's 5am and you're snuggling and sleeping in, all of the other arguments disappear :)

  2. I'm coming out of the closet, the chihuahua closet that is. All three of our chis sleep with us, and Max, my smallest one, sleeps under the blankets with me. Yes, I am not ashamed to admit it, I share my bed with 3 chis (and another human...)

    1. Sounds extremely cuddly! :) I hope you feel better, now that you've come out.

  3. I let our Spring Spaniel sleep in our bed, down by my feet. We have a king size bed and I am short. So it works out for us… well maybe more for the dog. ;-)

  4. Dogs are like kids, if you can convince them to sleep longer, total win-win no matter how you accomplish it!

Mocha will be totally lazy and stay in her kennel even after I open the door up in the morning. Sometimes I practically have to drag her out! I tried letting her sleep with me, she just wants to lick my face off the whole time. I'm so not having that when I'm trying to sleep!

    1. That's adorable. I'm all for face-licking, but I'm pretty sure I'd rather sleep than have my face licked :)

  5. I was the same way!! And now I love the snuggling. Even when he snores like a freight train.

    1. oooh...snoring? That will help me keep the lab out of the bed, cuz I'm not having that! Milo's voice is so tiny and sweet. I got a rude awakening when Steve first howled (in the car, on the way home from the breeder); that boy's voice is LOUD!

  6. I don't even think the dogs should be allowed in the bedroom. Won't this lead to a problem with jumping on furniture? I'm a little curious as to the opinion of the other members of the family. Yeah I know you can't get Steve's opinion.

    1. Mr.4444 used to try and talk me into letting Cooper sleep with us, but he may very likely have been just messing with me. Milo is way too small to get up onto the bed, but he is allowed on furniture; he's a lapdog. I certainly hope Steve never decides to be a lapdog!haha

  7. I swear, there will be no more monkeys jumping on the bed! It is amazing the self rules one often discards.

  8. I'm betting the dogs will win and be in bed with you sooner or later--just like ours! I don't see how you're going to keep Steve off if Milo is allowed on--that's just not fair at all!

  9. I am 99.9% sure that Steve will also end up in your bed, which is going to get really awkward when you accidentally mention in conversation that you "didn't sleep well last night with Milo AND Steve in the bed..."
    haha!

  10. When I was sick, my cat sensed it. He would sleep on my head, usually wrapped around the top of my head. Occasionally, he would check if I were breathing by sticking his upside face close to my nostrils. The whole experience encouraged me to try to stay well, as there is nothing quite like trying to sleep with a large tabby wrapped around your head.

  11. We let both our Boston Terriers sleep with us. Puppy warmth in the dead of winter is awesome! We did, however, recently buy a king size bed because it was becoming crowded.
