Sadly, our Kyle is a grown man now (Wow. When did that happen?) and has a coveted summer job, so he was unable to join us on this year's camping trip. At first, that really threw me for a loop; I mean, we've always camped together, the four of us. Franklin Lake wouldn't be Franklin Lake without Cooper, certainly, but without Kyle, either? It was just weird, and it took me a few days to accept the idea, but I finally let it go. Mr.4444 and I made the 3-hour drive with Milo and set up camp on Thursday. The next day, Kendall drove up to meet us, and Mr.4444 had her favorite hammock all set to go.
He also took us fishing;
Kendall was thrilled to catch a delicious bass!
Between the three of us,
we caught (and released) about ten small-mouth basses.
(Is it just me, or does "basses" sound weird?)
Anyway, we had a blast!
(Oh, and in case you're curious, I put my own worms on
but usually let Mr.4444 do the dirty/scary work of removing the hooks!)
It rained a few times, but never at the wrong times.
I absolutely love this shot, which shows the rain starting just as we were arriving on shore
after our fishing outing:
This one, too, is one of my favorites:
So...camping without Kyle (and Cooper) was different,
but it was still special.
It's all about perspective.
