This week, in Empty Nester Advantages; I shared some unexpected and very nice advantages of having an empty nest. I'm not gonna lie, though; it's not all fun and games over here with the kids gone; I feel a little lonely sometimes (since Mr.4444 does some traveling), and those nights (the eating alone part) are taking some getting used to.

A co-worker started an exercise group after school. Ten or more of us have been working our tails off to a video workout. I really like it, because I have no excuse not to participate, and it's right after school, so I get it out of the way before going home. It's also free, so that's awesome.

For those wondering about my student who proclaimed that he was excited about his impending fatherhood, I thought you'd appreciate an update: a few days later, in a friendly way, I mentioned that I was curious about something I'd heard him say, and I repeated what I'm certain he said. A dark cloud settled over his face, and he looked at me like he wanted to spit at me and snapped, 

"I don't know what you're talking about! I never said that!" I stand by what I heard, but of course I have to let it go. I'm just going to chalk it up to social awkwardness; it is middle school, after all, and most of my students have disabilities that impact their social skills.
